Graduation
« on: February 11, 2008, 06:49:50 pm »
I just received a letter from the university's I attend registrar's office inviting me to participate in graduation this spring.  Guess this means I'm almost done with my bachelor's in psychology.  I'm not really sure how to react to this.  I guess I should be jumping up and down, but I'm not.  Apparently there will be a graduation fair taking place soon, where caps, gowns etc. will be ordered.  I should ask them if they take a food stamp card. :D  Really, I don't feel any different than before I read the letter.

Betty Mon Dear,

Congrats!  I would wear the cap and gown,  I went to my first graduation (Associates Degree), my mom took me and my friends to the Palace Bar and Grill for adult beverages, we had a festive time.  My dad didn't show up but he failed to give my sister away at her wedding too.

Eighteen months later, I got a Bachelors Degree in a bigger school which was far away.  My friends and I went out drinkin but we didn't go to the ceremony.  ;D Have the best day

I didn't go to my graduation.  Finishig my degree was a bit of anti-climax, as I still didn't know what I wanted to do with my life.  I hadn't really thought beyond that point.  Graduation just seemed another signal that I needed to get on with my life and I knew that I was missing my life as a student.

That was many years ago and I kind of regret not going.  It would have been a chance to celebrate what I had done and I'm sure my parents would have enjoyed it.

So I would go, even if it was just to have a goofy photo in the gown and board to haunt me.

Betty...

with what seems like 20 years into my college career and with 20 years left to go to my bachelor's degree - be proud!  Think of all that you've had to put in to get to this point...  unending lectures, aweful term papers with a bazillion required sources, punk teachers treating you like your 5 when in fact they're younger than you.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!  It's no easy feat! :)

No, Michael, I guess that benefit was not included with the drug coverage. :D

Update:  Voc. rehab will not be having funding for summer classes (for those of us who depend on voc. rehab for school).  In looking at the classes I have left, it looks like I won't be able to graduate until next year.  Which is fine.  There are so many dirty politics being played at the university I attend, I'm thinking about switching schools anyway.  Of coures, this could be an off-day for me and next week I might feel totally different.

Well done Betty - be proud of you achievement and savour the moment when you receive your diploma.
It doesn't matter what age that we are, we can never stop learning- either from life experiences or other people.
Wear the gown and cap with pride on the graduation day - and we want photos of the occasion!!
