Title: my story
Post by: sorryforall on October 19, 2012, 05:45:49 pm
First of all, english is not my native english, so sorry for anything not being well explained.

I had a onetime risk experience in my life. (for sure it will be the last one). it was unprotected oral sex in a massage parlour, 4 weeks ago. I had only one sexual partner all my life, did someting really stupid that day, and for sure, aint gonna repeat it never.

i freaked out right there, and even asked about her oral higiene. But of course, it was my fault for going there, not hers.

in the meantime i had a mild flu for about 3 weeks, experienced a strange itching (with no rash) sometimes on my body, pubic areas included, some adominal pain, and a strange huge headache this week.

i read all in the forums here. so i can say for positive that the girl didnt have a meth mouth (i googled it), and surely i didnt punched her in the face also  ;).

i also know about the 3 longtime studies about serodiscordant couples, and its conclusions.

since im freaking out, my question is then three-fold:

1. Are the symptoms described even the ones that we should have, if we have an infection. (abdominal pain and itching?) And if my paranoia could be causing a lot of this? (since our state of mind could cause a lot, i know...)

2. In this forum this is considered a no-risk. but in most forums and medical opinions is a very low risk, which for my liking, is considerably different. If its really a no-risk, shouldnt all the sources say the same thing? Because i know that the few cases that indicated that oral made them infected, are considered unreliable. But should we really 100% expect them to be false?

3. In your sincere opinion, can i really go on with my sexual life as usual, with no need for any testing whatsoever.

Thank you for all for the peace of mind you provide, and for your patience, to repeat all the answers sometimes daily.

If you had oral sex performed on you there was absolutely no risk for HIV transmission. If you performed oral sex on the woman, your saliva has over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV.

Whatever symptoms you have are not in anyway HIV-specific. If they persist you should discuss them with a doctor. Just in general you ought to know that neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms will ever tell you anything reliably about your HIV status. When there is a real risk, which I repeat you did not have, when there is a real risk only an HIV test at 3 months can give you a reliable negative result.

We're not responsible for what other sources may put out about HIV transmission. What we say here is based solidly in HIV science.

I suspect that you are experiencing some anxiety over a new sort of sexual experience. Doubts and fears are not facts. And the facts of your situation indicate you were not at risk for HIV.

Get on with your life. HIV is not your problem. And as long as you always use condoms for vaginal and anal intercourse properly, you will not be at risk sexually.

Sorry to put another question, but its really been a rough 7 1/2 weeks for me. Everytime i calm down, me or my wife have the strangest symtoms happening, so to peace out my mind i really need to do a HIV test. My question is: at 7 1/2 weeks its pretty near conclusive right? I called the portguese hiv hotline, and they told me its 8-12 weeks   :-\

You never had an exposure and had you had an exposure, 7 1/2 weeks would not be conclusive.

Dear Ann, Andy, Jk and Rapidrod,

I subscribed a week as a donation, for thanking you in small part for all you do here everyday. I learned a valuable lesson, and your forum and answers were the factor that made me sane in the last weeks. I came here everyday.

Today i got a 8 week HIV negative test, and it putted my mind at ease, and of course as i know:
Rapidrod would say "i would never had an exposure, becase i had no risk"
Jk woud say "that it doesent matter how many variables i would put in oral, its still not a risk"
Ann would say that a "8 week negative test is highly unlikely to change"
and Andy would tell me to "go on with my life".

Am i right?
And thats what i can finally do.
Bless you all. You're really amazing.

Even when expected a negative result is always a happy thing.

And yes, now you can definitely get on with your life.
