Title: Is infection possible??
Post by: jennifer338 on November 08, 2013, 05:01:19 pm
Hi

I was reading through some postings on the site & need advice.

I made out with a married guy about a month ago who claimed he was clean. I never believe a guy just because he says that. Anyway, I couldn't go through with the sex so I gave him a hand job & he came on my hand (which was ok, no cuts that I saw). When I got home I realized that I had a scrape on the hand that didn't do the work. It was small & it was red & crusted over but I touched his underwear that had his sperm & my hand lotion on it too. It was a little messy because we were in his car. Today I’m congested & headachy – could I have caught anything by having his sperm on my hand & then touching his underwear w/the damp sperm?

Prior to this he used his fingers on & inside me but they were dry until I became wet & then my own fluids were used on me until orgasm.

Yesterday I went to the doctor for my yearly GYN physical & he drew my blood for a bunch of tests including HIV. I do this every year. Now I’m scared shitless. Aside from this incident 1 month ago, I haven’t had a sexual encounter for 5 years & was always clean & disease free. Should I be worried at what the results will come back as?

Thank you

You didn't have a risk . The risk factors for HIV are ...

Sharing IV drug needles immediately after use.
Unprotected anal and vaginal sex.
Mother to child during or shortly after birth
Very specific healthcare situations.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME for this incident , anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

To refer to a HIV negative person as clean is to infer that those of us that live with HIV are dirty . Its offensive .

You can relax , there is no way you were infected with HIV in the manner you are concerned with .
