From Australia - help
« on: April 05, 2008, 09:57:03 am »
Hi,

I am 26 years old. 3 weeks ago i had an encounter with an escort, where i had protected oral(brief) and vaginal sex ( protected, 3 minutes or so). I assume the condom did not break, because it just didnt feel that way. However, i didnt check the condoms. I ejaculated when i was being given protected oral sex. Later on, whilst having protected vaginal sex, i didnt ejaculate...

I also had loads of deep kissing. Now my question is, is HIV testing warrented? my logic says, i am just fine as i used condoms and its just anxiety and guilt. However, you guys are experts and can correctly judge my risk. I havent experienced any symptoms like fever, swollen lymph nodes, rash etc as yet...

Moreover, i called a helpline in australia, they told me i had nothing to worry. Not only my acts were safe, but also, the sex workers in australia have a better safe sex sense than general population. Moreove,r the operator also told me that, till date, there hasnt been a single case of transmission of HIV from a  prostitute - to- client  in australia.

Please help me. Is my worry justified?

Thankyoui

Your logic, your instincts and, most importantly, you behavior were all spot on.  You are fine.  No risk at all.

Well done, you.

Continue these safer sex practices, and you'll do just fine.
AIDS isn't for sissies.

Receiving oral is absolutely not in any way a risk for HIV transmission. Period. Never been a case documented of infection in that manner. Period.

As long as you always without exception use a condom for vaginal or anal intercourse you are well and effectively covered against HIV transmission sexually. All of the other sexual activities fall under the category of theoretically risky but in the real world of HIV transmission sexually really has only been solidly documented to happen through intercourse as I have mentioned.

I thought I'd made it clear  you absolutely were not at risk and testing is not necessary.

What I have noticed over a long period of time is that guys often seem much more worried when they have been with a pro, as if that's a greater risk. There seems to be a shame or guilt factor that happens for many. The reality is that professionals want to stay healthy and take good care as far as safer sex. Of course, giving head to you presents absolutely no risk to you as far as HIV is concerned, but your anxiety doesn't seem to be paying much attention to that reality right now.

You don't have any cause for concern about HIV in relation the incident you've reported.

Cheers,
Andy Velez

Andy,

Thanx Iam sorry, if i offended you. Your assessment is spot on mate, but i assume you did not notice i also had  protected vaginal sex, so wpuld that change your assessment of HIV testing not required? or would that addition lead to me testing for HIV?

thanx

You had protected vaginal sex = no risk
You had receptive oral sex = no risk
You had deep kissing = no risk
no risk = no need to test
