Title: When did George Michael become such a mess?
Post by: Rev. Moon on August 16, 2009, 12:29:12 am
One of my few [admitted] pop-addictions is George Michael.  I always found him to be such a good song-writer; some of his tunes are pop classics in my opinion (Just think "Freedom '90" and "Fastlove").  The man however has been such a mess ever since the '97 or so (perhaps earlier) incident.

This is like his fifth time getting in trouble with the law (didn't he fall asleep at the wheel last year?)

And this stunt is not even to promote a record (not like he has had a hit for a while). :(

I guess I am addicted to messy celebrities: Amy Winehouse and Eminem come to mind right away.  And I'm sure that there are many more...

Just a car accident.  What's an articulated lorry?  Whatever it is, it wasn't charged either lol. Someone in the police station probably just wanted to frisk him!  :o

He was always a favorite of mine. Careless whisper hold lots of memories/meaning.

Why doesn't he just leave the car keys at home?

If he wants to go trolling, take G and go after old men, fine.  Just take a taxi.

Not sure what the articulated means, apart from being very big and could very easily squash a little car.

What's an articulated lorry?

An articulated lorry is what people in the states usually call a "semi", "eighteen-wheeler" or "tractor-trailer". You know, one of those big trucks where the cargo container can be swapped for a different one. The articulated portion of the phrase comes from the fact that there is a hinge/pivot between the engine/cab portion of the rig and the cargo portion of the rig which allows for sharp turns in a long vehicle. A lorry is what the brits call large trucks.

Hey ma, look, I'm bilingual! ;D

In common parlance, articulated lorries are usually just called "artics", with the emphasis on the second syllable (ar-TIC). If you emphasise the first syllable (AR-tic), people think you're talking about a geographic location. The brits just LOVE to shorten words.

Lorry used alone refers to big trucks that are unarticulated, not to be confused with inarticulate.

;D

I still like listening to some of this stuff...not so much the Wham songs. I loved Faith, I want Ur Sex, and Father Figure. If there was anything after that then I kinda tuned out. Too bad he can't get his life together, I think he still has some good music left in him.
