Hey folks.  I'm new to the site, (but not to HIV-14 years) and have just been switched from Reyataz/Combivir to Atripla.

After three nights of nooooo sleep, (and when I do, the dreams are, well, odd ::)), want to know how long it takes people to deal with the side effects on start-up?  Trying to decide if an a.m. dosing might be better than a p.m. dosing?

Welcome to the forums ;)

You'd probably get more replies if you start your own thread with those questions. You can also do a search for "Atripla" and lots of things come up discussing all the side effects etc. I'm not on it or I'd share my experiences but based on all I've read, side effects do tend to get milder as time goes on (sometimes within 1 to 2 weeks). Taking it on an empty stomach seems to help with side effects.

Some people do take it in the morning, I was just reading a post from David NC where he said he takes it in the morning.

Thanks...and my apologies...I run a site (dogs) and HATE it when people come on and do what I did---don't read first and post on the first thread that hits 'em...But I was exhausted and apparently a little spacey on this new drug.

Have spent much more time now reading and will continue to do so.  Looking forward to participating!

And congrats, Tommy246! ;)

Wehaaaaa.  My doctor called me now and told that my CD is 468 which was 300 in the last count and  V. Load is undetectable.  But my bad cholesterol is 227 which is lower than the previous of 267, which I think this is also good.  So, I love Atripla too.

I took an Atripla in the morning once after missing a dose the night before.  I was dizzy and felt a little high for a few hours.  So I always take it at night now.  My strange dreams went away after a couple of weeks.

Hi Guys, I am a 37 yo male and I have been positive for 8 years now, I finally had to start treatment even if I feel very healthy  althouh my VL was never more than 5.000, my CD4 count went down to a bit less than 300, so I decided not want to risk and start treatment at last.
I started ATRIPLA 2 weeks ago and I am also amazed by it as I have not had any of the very well known side effects, no vivid dreams, no sort of hung-over and dizziness mornings nor tiredness nor rash..... I was worried as I am on a Master Degree ending in June with my in-company training starting in two weeks, and I was very worry to miss it due to side effects. But I feel absolutely nothing different that what I felt before I started.
Thanks for all your posts I read before I made my decission

Hey don't give up.  You will not have any problem with Atripla.  It is only very temporarily.  Especially if you want to take it during bed time.  You sometime forget that you are on med.  But keep up the good work.  Life is not ending with this f** disease.

:) Great news that you are doing so well on Atripla!

After being really worried about starting on Atripla, I too am thrilled with my numbers. In two weeks my viral load dropped from 70000 to 216 and my CD4 rose by 60. So all good.

Yes, this disease does not need to be so bad after all. Things look good  and I am quietly confident that I will be ok :)

My advice to all out there with any doubts about starting meds: Do it!! It can only be for the good

Bruce
