I'm in a good mood, I know we are still not out of the woodworks.  but around new years me and the hubby got drunk, got carried away and he forgot his condom.  well he has to test every three months and the test results came back two days ago negative.  so it really cheered me up.

His doctor is still scratching his head though over why my husband hasn't gotten the virus since before hand we had four years of unprotected sex.  (and not to be too detailed but I am a nympho with sexual addictions) so are sex life has always been a bit more then normal married couples.

anyways i strayed off topic, sorry have a tendency to do that i just wanted to share the good news =) and so far 16 days in the meds are going great except a problem with not being able to sleep very much.  But i'm just gonna see if they can put me back on the flexiril I was taking before the diagnosis.

I'm sorry, but if your husband's doctor is "still scratching his head though over why my husband hasn't gotten the virus since before hand we had four years of unprotected sex", he must have graduated at the bottom of his class in medical school.  His knowledge of the dynamics of HIV transmission is worse than most 8th graders'.

Congrats on the hubbies negative test result.

I'm quite sure you are correct. However, for me, it works better if I continue thinking her cutie husband is the Nympho.

There's a current thread by a new member, a straight male, who got infected by having sex once with a woman. It can happen. Heterosexual transmission is the main form seen throughout Africa.

And Ravhyn is talking about four years of what she says is high frequency of condom-less sex, so it is kinda surprising.

Callmesid

well he's an army doctor. half of them are great, the other half terrify me.  One tells me i have arthritis the other tells me i have a herniated disc in my back neither have ran tests.  One told me even i had tons of bleeding ulcers. his words exactly, with only doing a couple blood test that showed everything was fine, liver kidney's, and only my white blood cell count was a lil low but not below normal. a month later I found out i had hiv and two months later that my cd4 count was 152.  so i was surprised after numerous hospital and ER visits no one thought to run an hiv test.

willy

awe i should post some pics he's got these beautiful baby blue eyes.  that's the kicker he's been with literally over a 100 women, never wore a condom not one std.  and only two or three women claiming he's their babies daddy. me, just a couple of men and bam!

Yesssss....  "It can happen" and I never said that it COULDN'T.  The reality is that the estimated number of infections per 10,000 acts of insertive penile-to-vaginal sex (HIV+ female, HIV- male) is approximately 5 (see Wikipedia and the studies it links to, listed below).  Or, stated another way, each such act has about a 1/2,000 chance of transmitting HIV (though other factors, STDs, etc. could increase the risk in any given act).  Of course, those are the odds based upon observed/self-reported data.  One *CAN* be infected during the first unprotected act with a poz partner, but it does not mean that he/she *WILL* be infected on the first (or the second...or the 1,649th...or...)

All Dr. McScratchyHead needs is to do is about 10 minutes of research of the existing literature to get minimally educated about the dynamics of HIV transmission.

That's all I was sayin'.....

Rahvyn, so sorry to hear about your experiences with the army docs!  It sounds like you're now linked up with a competent care provider and I'm glad to hear that!  Be well.  (And tell the hubby to wrap it up!!!)
