Testing

(1/1)

Svander88:
Can you please help me on my exposure. I been reading all over the internet and glad I found this website. Back on May 12 was drugged by a friend who I thought was a friend and he is hiv positive and in a bad place. When I awoke I was naked and I had what appear blood on my lips and they were busted so I don’t know if it was his blood or my blood on my wounded lips and face. I don’t think I was raped. I was given pep. I tested at 4 weeks finishing pep and then  at 10weeks (September 2) post pep 2. Do you think this is accurate ? Or I should worry about my results.

Jim Allen:
Hiya,

Firstly I'm sorry to hear you experienced a violent assault and I hope that have access to any support needed to help you.

Regarding the blood on the face and lips, that's not an HIV concern but as you don't know what otherwise happened the PEP was a good precaution to take. PEP is highly effective in preventing HIV from taking hold.

From the times-lines you posted here, I understand you tested 6 weeks post finishing PEP. A non-reactive result from a blood-drawn (lab) HIV antibodies test at this time would rarely ever change and generally further testing would not be needed. You could test at 3 months post finishing PEP but realistically the results you have will not change.

Kind regards

Jim
