JOY!
« on: August 22, 2007, 01:05:40 pm »
Ok, so my name is Mauricio and I'm new to the site.  I had written what I thought was a lovely introduction but I was timed out and so here is the "Cliff Notes" version of that  ;D   I'm 33 years old, just had my birthday 8/17 and I live in Salt Lake City, UT.  I moved here in Jan of this year to be closer to my family after a whirlwind 13 year  tour of the US.  I'm originally from Mexico and have liven in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago, Provincetown, Wichita Falls, and San Antonio.   I don't think that I will live in SLC for ever as I definitely would love to find the love of my life and highly doubt that will happen in good ol' UTAH.    I was diagnosed in Jan 2004 and had a rough time my first year as I decided to go on meds immediately.  The side effects of several combinations were intolerable (couldn't speak, eat, walk yuck)  but finally I found something my body could tolerate and now I'm on Atripla and doing very well (undetectable viral load, 700 CD4 count @ 50%)  I am really happy to have found this site and am looking forward to getting to know you, hence the title of my post. The support you offer is invaluable and I appreciate the candidness of your posts.  Now I probably should get back to work  HA!
CHEERS!

Mauricio,

Whether you know it or not, you're in a great place for HIVers by being in Salt Lake City.  Utah AIDS Foundation produces some good broad programming on HIV/AIDS and on Queermen's health.  There is also a vibrant "Strength In Numbers" HIVer social group there, and some good docs associated with UU.

PM me for more details.
