Starting meds next week...Truvada, Reyataz, Norvir?
« on: April 22, 2008, 06:55:34 pm »
Hi!

I am newly diagnosed--I was hospitalized two weeks ago with PCP and was diagnosed with HIV --CD 4 39 VL 99,000.  I am out of the hospital and recovering well from the PCP (better than the doctor expected).  Given my low CD4 count, my ID doc wants me to start meds next week.  He discussed a number of options with me--one regimen that uses Sustiva and then the Truvada, Reyataz, Norvir combo.  I am wary of the Sustiva because of the vivid dreams. CNS effects and the potential effects on moods etc.  Knowing myself, I do not think I would do well with those potential side effects. Therefore I am leaning towards the Truvada, Reyataz, Norvir combo? Can anyone share there experiences with this combo and if its working for them? Any inpiut would be appreciated as this is all pretty new to me. Thanks!

Tim

Hey Tim!

Sorry you are having a rough time, but you should be on the mend, with starting meds soon.  I am not on meds yet, but probably will be within the next 6 months... My first line treatment will be the Reyetaz, Norvir, Truvada combo since I have the k103 mutation and am resistant to Sustiva... I have heard from several people that this is actually a great combo for most people, with very little side effects... I am a worry-wort, and I have very little reservations with starting this combo, so I would say you have made a wise choice!  Good luck, and let us know how it goes. ; )
confirmed diagnosis 10.1.07
10/07  cd4 504 vl 40,000
1/08  cd4 524 vl 73,000
4/08  cd4 484 vl 48,060
6/02/08 started Truvada, Reyetaz, Norvir
7/08 cd4 605! vl 400
9/08 cd4 713 vl 175

k103 mutation :(

Hey dolcevita, how you getting on? I'm on the same combo you are, it's worked wonders for me after 6 months. CD4+ from 220 to 550 and VL from 1,000,000 to 60.
