Title: Back in Austin...and exhausted
Post by: Basquo on June 22, 2006, 08:58:15 pm
Well I've returned from my grandmother's funeral.  She passed on Monday, and I drove to West Texas yesterday morning for the service yesterday afternoon. I was prepared to stay for several days but my dad was ready to come home after being out there for two weeks.  My stepmom, who had flown out there, couldn't get a flight back so I talked her into driving my minivan while I drive my truck.  Yes, you read right, I now own a minivan.  Mimi left it to me.  We went to the Howard County courthouse early this morning and did the transfer. It was very easy, but they wouldn't let me keep the handicapped plates  :-\    I also brought back some furniture, little knicknacks, and some things for my mother whom my grandmother mentioned in her will as "my very dear friend" whilst curiously not mentioning my stepmom, brother or sister :-X

So my place is a wreck and I'll spend the next few days trying to place all this stuff.  My truck will be sold and the proceeds will pay off a credit card.  Then in the fall...roadtrip!  I'm planning to visit a few special people in Jackson, TN and Kansas City, MO, two of which are just now finding out!

Thank you all again for your kind words and support in the past two weeks.  My grandmother lived a long and healthy life, and the end was quick and painless.  But she looked so small in the casket. And my favorite niece sat next to me at the service, bawling the entire time.  That was the hardest part for me.

Love,
Creighton

Like the idea of a road trip...I wouldn't mind taking one myself.....
I bet you are exhausted...Poor baby!  Don't forget to rest up....We need our beauty sleep :P

Dear Crieghton

I was sorry to hear of your Grandmothers passing...I know you spent as much time with her as you could..and I'm glad she passed away peacefully.

You look after that Minivan..I have a feeling you will have a backseat driver looking over your shoulder and looking after you.

Hugs
Jan :-*

Creighton,

I'm very sorry to hear about your grandmother.  You have my deepest condolences.  Kinda nice that she gave you the minivan though.  Very sweet.

Take care,
John
