Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

High Risk. Pics of Rash Included

Before I start, let me point out that I am getting tested tomorrow.  Just thought my anxiety could possibly be relieved here.  Here is my situation:

14 nights ago, on July 12th I got drunk and had unprotected sex.  It lasted about 45minutes, however I did not ejaculate.  The girl I had sex with was just getting over a sore throat/cold.  The next night, I got drunk again and had unprotected sex with girl #2 for about an hour and did not ejaculate inside of her.  On Friday I began to get sick (I assume from girl #1).  This was a sore throat, diaherra, and eventually phlegm in the nostrals and throat.  I believe there were some body aches, nothing extremely severe.  Saturday night, believe it or not, I got drunk and had sex with girl #3.  This was unprotected for about 30 seconds and then I put a condom on (yay).

As the week progressed my sore throat, diaherra, and phlegm issues continued.  They began to let up...until Thursday night when I foolishly went out drinking again.  However, I did not have sex with anyone!  Friday night my friends and I went out for tappas (Spanish cuisine).  It is important to add, I had lamb which I have never ate and I also have never had authentic Spanish cuisine.  Ten days after my first sexual encounter (July 22nd), I woke up Saturday morning with a slightly bumpy and relatively itchy rash on my right hip.  Next, this spread to my legs.  It's kind of a blotchy redness, slightly raised.  By Monday (12 days past) I believe it's important to note my "cold symptoms" were gone.  Eventually the rash went up my left hip, slightly covers my arms and is now covering most of my back.  It's starting to form around the rib cage, but seems to be stabilizing.  My face and neck do not have the rash.  Here is what it looks like:

Please let me know what you guys think.  I'm sure you all understand how worried I am without me saying it.

If you haven't read our "Welcome thread" at the top of this board then please do so.  It has great information along with our guidelines for posting.

One of our posting guidelines requests that you not post photos.  Please edit your post to remove them (they are torture for those with dial-up connections).

As you have put yourself at risk for hiv by having unprotected sex, you will need to test 13 weeks post exposure for a conclusive result.  A six week test in your situation would be an excellent indication of whether your symptoms have anything to do with hiv, but would still have to be followed up with the 13 week conclusive test.

Symptoms, if they occur at all, would appear in the 2-4 week post exposure range.  But symptoms are no way to diagnose hiv.  You can have no symptoms and be hiv positive, or have all the symptoms usually associated with primary hiv infection and be negative.  Ars rash doesn't itch and usually is confined mainly to the trunk.  But, again, your symptoms cannot be relied on to determine your hiv status.  Only testing at the appropriate time will do that.

Use condoms in the future for penetrative sex and avoid hiv infection.  It's just that easy.

We cannot diagnose you rash over the internet and if you do not remove those photos from your post, I will.

See a doctor about your rash.

I did read the "Welcome Thread" and it said to make the pictures dialup friendly, so I resized them to 600x400.  Regardless, sorry about that.


I was just wondering if the rash looked like the common rash associated with HIV.

That rash looks like a rash. If you continue to have it see a doctor. Nothing can be done over the internet.
