Calculating Percentages

I'm a little confused, but I see that people have percentages next to their CD4 and Viral Load counts. How is this calculated and what does it mean? My doctor mentioned not worrying too much about my elevated VL because my percentage isn't that much different. Could someone explain?

As far as how to calculate it, there is a way to do it but it's simpler to just look at the results from your lab report, it's given as a separate value when doing standard HIV blood work. I always ask for copies of my lab reports and have kept them all since being diagnosed.

Here is a good guide to explain---although I still get confused.  I've just been told ya want to keep your % above 20%.  When on meds, many get % back in the 30's and 40% range.

Matty the Damned's rool of fum for CD4 percentages:

>30% == Normal for any human.

>21% but <29% == Perfectly acceptable for a poz bod. Treatment is a consideration if you're not on it.

>19% == Not so good, potential for Bad Shit to Go Down. You should seriously think about/start treatment.

>13% == Doubleplus ungood. Start treatment quickwise.

Wow thanks for the info guys. I forget what she said my % was from my last lab. I just know that my CD4 count was almost half of what it was from the lab before.
