Does anyone take supplements on Triumeq?
« on: July 15, 2015, 11:16:23 am »
I know I was advised against taking much of any other vitamins, herbal medicines etc - but my friend recently gave me Biotin supplements because I was complaining about the state of my hair its 10,000 mcg per tablet which does seem quite high. My doctor just said there's no studies suggesting an interaction but advised not taking these kind of things when I don't need them. So I dont know what to do as I am curious to see if they would be of any help to me

Tivicay/doulutegravir lessened the warning about taking regular supplements at the same time, if taken with food.  Otherwise, just stick to taking Triumeq 2 hours before or 6 hours after any supplements.  I take my Tivicay in the morning, and any supplements in the evening.

  • antacids, laxatives, or other medicines that contain aluminum, magnesium, sucralfate (CarafateŽ), or buffered medicines. TIVICAY should be taken at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after you take these medicines.
  • iron or calcium supplements. Supplements including multivitamins containing calcium or iron may be taken at the same time with TIVICAY if taken with food. Otherwise, TIVICAY should be taken at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after you take these medicine

So I dont know what to do

i'm just gonna repeat this

you know what you've been told, your doctor advised against it, but you don't know what to do

i hope when you put it that way, it helps you see things a little clearer

do you trust your doctor or not?

Just one supplement here -- 5000 IU vitamin D, as requested by my doc. It's common for those of us in the cloudy Pacific northwest to have vitamin D deficiencies; indeed, a recent test demonstrated mine.

I take no other supplements. Be very careful of the claims you hear from alt-med hawkers. There is no such thing as "alternative" medicine. There is only medicine, the stuff that's been proven to work.
