Hey everyone. I am a 32-year-old male who recently had unprotected sex with a bottom who has tested positive. Some oral and rimming. The whole penetration part was roughly 30 to 45 seconds. No more than a minute. I did cum inside of him. I am also concerned because his ass got quite wet within a few seconds. I am freaking out! I never top w/o a condom. i rarely have intercourse!!! If I can dodge this one, I will definitely take a looooong break from any kind of sex for a while. How common is it for tops to contract HIV from a bottom?

The risk for the insertive partner is less than the risk the bottom incurs but its hard to say what the risk percentage is when there are too many unknown variables to any one incident .

You had a risk and must test , you can do so 6 weeks past the incident and again at 3 months to confirm the results .

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

The six week test is the earliest you can test . The average time to seroconversion is 22 days. Most who are infected will test positive by 6 weeks. For various reasons a small number will take longer and that is why we follow the CDC recommendation to test at 3 months for a conclusive negative result.

I have known people who claim the be total tops who went on to test positive after an exposure , it does happen . There are plenty of Heterosexual men as well as gay men who contract HIV from being the insertive partner . Unprotected vaginal or anal sex is the highest of risk and accounts for the majority of HIV infections .

The only thing to do now is test at the appropriate time .
