Swelling & sweating
« on: August 16, 2007, 06:59:49 am »
My feet & hands are swelling especially in the evening for the last few days.
Legs are almost as elephant foot and I can barely close my hands firmly.
Due to my veins inflammation I have a feeling of fullness in my legs , but I wonder what can cause a swelling ?
I do not cough , or have any temperature.
Also my bed is soaking wet through the night.
I have to change my T-shirt twice through a night..............although now is not so hot in the city....................
And yes  , needles and pins quite good describe a start of the neuropathy........
Any thoughts .............?

Hey Al,

How are your numbers? The night sweats are sometimes seen among people with low CD4s and/or high viral loads.

As for the swelling, several things could cause this, but it is not something to ignore.

Get thee to a doctor, young man. This is not something to ignore or hope will resolve itself.

HUGS,

Mark

Hi Al----edema in the extremities can be an indication of any number of health problems.  Too often people are given diuretics which offer symptomatic relief but do not address the underlying cause.  I hope you will not accept a pat on the back and a presciription for a diuretic as adequate treatment without looking into the underlying cause.  Likewise the night sweats can be a result of a number of things.  The pins and needles effect can be related to the edema as the swelling puts pressure on nerves close to the surface of the skin.

I have called my doc and the conversation was like this :

Me: Doc , my feets are swelling at the evening (along with needles & pins sensation during the night ), and I`m sweating like crazy....almost 2-3 times per night and 2 per day I`m soaking wet.

He: Hm................but your VL was normal last time.I think that swelling & sweating are just a manifestation of the illness that you have ...........

In the meantime a strange kind of rush has emerged into my arms. Not to many but it is red 4-5 mm in diameter (2 inches) and if I scratch it  , it heals very hard..............

Also my daughter told mt F&M in low that I`m in the house all day ( due to a inflammed veins), so now when they call along with the brother in low they even do not ask for me anymore.............I feel  a little like a jumped-runover dog on the highway................
