Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

condoms

I had a oral+vaginal sex with a sex worker 4 mounths ago. Today I had a ANTI HIV1-/HIV2 antibody test. That is negative. Shoul I have a test more at 6th mounth or stop to think about it. Thanks

condex,

The window period for hiv testing is THREE months. Your test result is conclusive - you do NOT have hiv. You do NOT need further testing over this incident.

Getting a blowjob is not a risk for hiv infection. Intercourse with a condom is also not a risk for hiv infection. Unless you had unprotected intercourse, you were not at risk to begin with.

You are hiv negative. Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will continue to avoid hiv infection. Read through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use them with confidence.

I attemp to avoid realationship with her genitalia. So we cant say that was a exactly oral relationship. Do I need a test. I will marry soon.I am very worried please help me.

Nothing you have described put you at risk for HIV transmission. The risks for HIV sexually are unprotected vaginal or anal sex. Everything else sexually is risky only in theory. In the real world of HIV transmission happens through unprotected intercourse. There's no need for HIV testing over this recent incident.

Hello, I have had sex with some sex workers yet. I used condom at all of my relations. I was relaxed before today because of usingcondom. but today one of my friends said that condom does not prevent from hiv. Should I believe him. Shoul I have any test? I am very suspectful now. Please help me..

Condoms have been PROVEN to prevent hiv infection. There have been long-term studies of couples where one is positive and one is negative. In the couples who used condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, but no barrier for oral activities, not one of the negative partners became infected with hiv. Not one.

The idea that condoms do not prevent hiv transmission comes from people/organisations who don't want you to have sex outside of marriage between a man and a woman and they also don't want you to use condoms even in a marriage. It's simply scare tactics, nothing more, nothing less.

Keep using those condoms, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple. Read through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use them with confidence.

I want to ask taht if one person have a protected sex, but he or she made other sexual activities like oral sex or deep french kiss,  are there any risk for hiv transmission?

The only proven sexual risks are unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse. Getting a blowjob is not a risk. Going down on a woman is not a risk. Any type of kissing is not a risk.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple.

Hi,I had an sexual intercourse 15 days ago with a sexworker unknown hiv status.I had protected in vaginal penetration.But I have wounds in my mouth and we had deep frech kisses lasts long.But I didnt see any blood or tasted any blood.After 2 days later from my intercourse I had a bad sore throat and I took antibiotics for 2 weeks.Now I have fever,fatigue and headache.I feel myself so bad.Medicine didnt make any effect.Should I test? when? I am very worried and I cant sleep,please help me.

It's WHO you were with but WHAT you did that matters. As long as you use a condom for intercourse you are protected from HIV very effectively. Kissing that includes tongues having gone as deeply as you can imagine is totally irrelevant because kissing of any kind is not a risk.

Your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV. If they persist you should discuss them with your doctor. There is no need for HIV testing. End of story.
