I was surprised Gavin DeGraw signed up. I thought his career was on the rise. Sherri Shephard!!!! Many of the entertainment shows are discussing how DWTS will do up against The Voice. I don't watch either of the shows, so I don't know. I know several folks my parent's age love Dancing with the Star. I've read their core audience is conservative, older people.

Um, I got what Mecch was going on about - it's to do with the draconian anti-abortion laws some southern locales have been trying to get on the books. Don't you people keep up on the ongoing assault on a woman's right to decide what happens to her own body? Guess not.
I've been against routine circumcision since I was about sixteen - long before I ever came eye to eye with an uncut cock. I always vowed any son of mine would be left intact - but I never had a son. I've actually had this discussion with my daughter as well and she agrees that the circumcision of baby boys is just a barbaric throw-back to old-testament times. Sometimes there are valid medical reasons for the procedure, but it's rare that it's absolutely necessary.
But anyway - DWTS - I don't waste my time on any shows of that ilk. I believe the whole "dancing" genre of programs originated in the UK - much to my horror. Does the US have Dancing on Ice yet? That's worth an occasional peek - just to see them fall flat on their asses. Hilarious.

What I read on my political blogs and podcasts is that we face a dreary election season in which, if the economy stays OK, then the Republicans will be forced to run on values and morality issues. Uggg. And Romney, Santorum and Gingrich are proven hypocrites on these issues. Its the WORST most destructive type of campaign, factless ideologies and condescending to and "idea" of the "lowest common denominator" which, being 50% women, is sheer insanity, and which in reality doesn't even care about these issues. Its gonna be one Potemkin Village after another, myths that bear no relation to reality. Straw man arguments like Kennedy was against freedom of relgion or catholics don't use birth control.
If I had to be strapped into a viewing chair with my eyelids open a la Clockwork orange, I'd rather watch endless DWTS than any more of this Republican minstral show.

No, not particularly international news, but the people in this thread who were scratching their heads over your post all live in the States. Maybe it would be more to the point to say that the recent US birth-control and abortion wars are not men's news.
I keep up on this type of news out of the US to remind myself how fortunate I am to live where I do. And, being a woman, it's best to keep abreast of this type of thing because there are too many people in the UK who think that what happens in the US must be a good thing and should be brought in over here. Forewarned is forearmed.
I forget who said it first - if men were the ones to get pregnant and bear children, abortion would be a sacrament.

I am VERY aware of the assault on women's health and rights, because much of this news is coming from the state of Virginia -- which is where I live. I see it daily and here the idiotic men (and women) who try to justify these things every day on the local news. I do my best to vote these idiots out, but unfortunately, I am surrounded by too many people who believe them! So, I'm left being represented by nut jobs like Eric Cantor................

I so agree..... he could definitely shake his booty, but the rest of it was just sort of.......... blah. I thought Bruno was going to jump him on live TV.
However -- it certainly was the best group they've ever had -- no absolute awful dancers in the bunch.
