Just curious, I meet so many people who are on disability that are positive 20+ years. Right now, I feel like I could work until retirement age, but maybe I'm totally delusional?? I'm considering going back to school for my masters but I always start thinking about the stress of school and work and living with HIV for so long and wonder if it would be too much stress for my old HIV body. :) Hope you 3 had a wonderful Holiday and thanks for responding.

Another LTS (29 years January 2014) here still working full time and not on disability. Completed my Masters degree in 2010 while also working full time.

Just received 2nd of twice yearly labs and remain undetectable at 701 CD4, 28%.

Chugging along!

Best Holiday Wishes to everyone.

Hi,

Throughout my close to 29 years of living with HIV, I have been fortunate and lucky to have always worked.  It wasn't always easy though, there were some tough times.

I probably could have applied for disability back in 2003, and been approved almost immediately, but I had health insurance at work, and affordable access to medication, so I decided to keep pushing along with the job, which wasn't too bad too handle.

Now 10 years later, I was able to retire early @ 62, and it couldn't have happened at a better time for me.

Yup. Here too.  And like others here, I've worked in HIV for over 20 years.
