my portable shoe box,
and one for my hair products.
I guess that's why I always preferred going by car. I could take the 3 piece luggage (completely full), my portable shoe box, overnight bag, recreation bag (with munchies) and still have room for any extras. Then we'd return from our 3 day weekend and I pretty much wore everything. Now I have to figure out how to pack almost an entire week in ONE suitcase? I'm not joking here....does everyone manage to fit everything in one case and still have an adequate wardrobe? How many pairs of shoes and what style?
With all of your wardrobe changes, when will you actually have time to visit with anyone at AMG? ;)
so I will have to cram quite a bit into the small carry on bag that I use.
How small? Or are you one of those that somehow manages to get a fullsize suitcase onto the plane and then tries to stuff it overhead and then complain that the bins are too small.

I was going to ask the same question! I'm wondering if he is "that guy" who is try to stuff the obviously too large carry-on into the overhead bin. :D
Perhaps we should have a "best dressed" award for AMG 2011 in Seattle. Knowing Basquo's personal flair, I'd put my money on him.

And perhaps least dressed also just to keep things interesting ;)
Oh hands down Basquo, and apparently he is bringing a suticase full of scarves and hair product. So yeah.We are simply not in his league!

No-one will really care about what you wear,.
I had two suit cases and a man purse when I went to AMG. At the time in '08 Continental didn't charge extra on international flights, so I checked one bag. I'm a two-outfit-a-day type of girl, plus accessories.
Hi Wolf
I always put mine in my checked in luggage,
That's crazy.
Why?

Next conern, do you guys carry on your medication or check it? What about the weekly pill containers? Do they have to be in the original bottle? Christ, if I have to carry the actual bottles of all of mine, there goes the carry on.take in your carry-on (that way your meds are in your possession and don't have a chance to get "lost")
but I usually keep my weekly pill box filled and take any additional in the bottles. I've never had a question,
Mike
I usually keep my weekly pill box filled.... I've never had a question, and yes, I've had my ziplock bag full of meds removed and looked at by the TSA. They never even opened the bag, never mind going into the pill box.same thing here, and that's been flying within the US, between OH and NC since 1995, and even after the heightened security after 9/11.
Check the TSA's website to be sure!http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/specialneeds/editorial_1059.shtm
It is recommended (not required) that passengers bring along any supportinghttp://www.tsa.gov/assets/pdf/special_needs_memo.pdf
documentation (ID cards, letter from doctor, etc.) regarding their medication needs. It is

passengers boarding pass
A customs agent asked me once if I really had to take all those pills and I said yes ... he said you poor thing and shoved them back in my bag . That was the only comment about my huge pharmaceutical stash I ever got .http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/specialneeds/editorial_1374.shtm#3

No meth lab, or is someone from Kentucky responsible for that?

I really would like some Cuban Calamari with Black Beans y rice! (YUM). WITH the ink of course.
Am I missing something? When did Fidel take over Italian cuisine? Even in Spain they call it calamares a la romana.
Yea, or we may have to walk over to Pioneer Square to get that. I wonder if that city has a decent Cuban restaurant? I really would like some Cuban Calamari with Black Beans y rice! (YUM). WITH the ink of course.
grilled octopus.
That does sound good. Is it marinated and does it come with a dipping sauce?
I've only ordered it in Italian, Spanish or Greek restaurants, not cooked it at home. But it usually is some variant on marinating pre-grilling (actually I think it's boiled then grilled) or drizzling afterwards, with things like olive oil, white wine and various herbs.
If the texture of squid is fine with you in calamari then I can't imagine not liking grilled octopus, or grilled squid.
Oh, you know what else is fabulous is cold squid salad.
Oh, you know what else is fabulous is cold squid salad.
One of the things I must do while in Seattle is find a great seafood restaurant that only the locals know about , I will do this even if I go it alone .
Love that! Some Asians fix a kick ass spicy squid salad that is served cold. Oh well..... leave it to me to turn any thread into a food thread.
LOL...I was just thinking the very same thing, how did it go from filling a suitcase with clothes to filling the belly with food...a little bit like Chinese whispers :D

Crab is OK, but I don't like wrestling with the shell stuff. And all of that butter and wearing of bibs -- so not fetch.
Love a good sea scallop!
Love me some scallop! My fave food.
I bet you ruin it and wrap it in bacon. And I know you don't eat octopus.
I think it started with roasting a pig in my hotel room ;)
Love a good sea scallop!
I would hope that fresh queenies and scallops would be available in Seattle
went out on a fishing boat and these two hunky Icelandic boys pulled stuff in
I'm not sure if Ive had fresh scallops before , bet not . Don't you love it when they say fresh frozen like you have been offered a treat .
When I went to Iceland I went to this huge bay called Breiðafjörður (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brei%C3%B0afj%C3%B6r%C3%B0ur) (famous in Viking tales) and actually went out on a fishing boat and these two hunky Icelandic boys pulled stuff in and I had scallops fresh AND RAW:
You can bet your 'bottom dollar' there will be freshqueeniesqueens there!!
btw sweetie darling, this is the one (http://www.babbonyc.com/rec-scallops_crudo.html)... and you'll note that Peconic sea scallops are fresh 75 miles east from NYC on Long Island ... when in the Hamptons
Best visual I have had all day!
I've had both queenies and scallops raw, but don't really like them. I prefer them lightly fried in butter, sometimes with a smidgen of garlic, or lightly grilled. They don't take well to over-cooking as they go too rubbery. Like squid. One of the skippers I fished with used to like to take them off the deck, scoop the meat out with his knife and pop them straight into his mouth while they were still pulsing. Yuck.
I know for certain there's also a scallop fishery off the Maine coast. My bf's brother was over there recently teaching them some of the Manx scallop stock conservation techniques. We're a world leader in that regard.
Here they are!

Very nice! My hunch is that the blond does not have a single hair on his chest. The other fella would have a happy trail worth exploring. OH MY... get the head out of the gutter James.
Cod eat scallops, right? The cod hasn't done well for eons there so scallops have been great.
Until you've held an octopus in your hand and looked into their eyes, you could never understand how I feel about them.
For some reason I am thinking they only have one eye.
For some reason I am thinking they only have one eye.
I'll have to fire up my ancient dinosaur of a PC and dig out some of my fishing photos. Watch this space.....
I will be traveling with live chickens
Jeff,
I found a little something that may be of interest. Cooking Salmon in a Hotel Room. Total coincidence that it takes place in Seattle.

Cooking Salmon in a Hotel Roomyum!
yum!
reminds me of the days of cooking in my dorm room with a popcorn popper :D
Just know to never use butane lighters while roasting a pig. It sounds like you already know that Bic lighter roasted pigs turn out much better:

No need to boil the hair off first if you dont mind the aromatics.
That snout looks just the way I like em , crispy around the edges .
Isn't it soft shell crab season right now? Indeed it is,
Oh yes!

I have no clue, I was drunk and just remembered going across that long bridge over the Chesapeake from Virginia to Maryland
Ann...I love that picture of you, I believe you have shown it before. You look so very happy and having a great time, difficult as it the work was. But being all that sick at sea and the old Captain Stubborn Bastard holding you hostage, I would have considered mutiny already!!! :D
Jody :)
Lordy Ann, you're more manly than I am. Cute picture.
This thread has been hijacked! I'm just saying.
Not hijacked, shipwrecked! ;)I wonder how many pieces of luggage and what Strauss-Kahn had to pack for his house arrest at the swanky hotel he has to stay at ----- I would assume, that since he is "innocent til proven guilty" that he didn't have a limit to what he could bring. For shame, if they had limited him to the number of bags and what he could bring simply based off of some early DNA test (Tsk, Tsk) :-X
