Scotslassie...you aren't understanding what Matty has told you in what was actually a kind manner.

You were in the midst of your own crisis...regardless of what you've learned here in your brief tenure, would you, in the throes of your own panic, take the word of someone who is writing into the board for advice themselves at the same time?  Uh...nope.

Wait until your own crisis has passed, learn a bit and eventually help is welcome.  What we don't need is inaccurate advice and the moderators to have to come and check everyones work.

Seriously....think about it...you have no credibility at this time, and this site is all about credibility.  The experts you see here (and I do NOT include myself in that category whatsoever) are experts for a reason.

Sae.

Meh.

I have never proclaimed to be an expert, yes she can wait for a mod to say it or a health expert, but if I say it will hopefully be reassuring for her as well- she doesnt need to only have certain people posting!

As far as Im awarw this place is for people to speak to each other about problems- I post on other random foryms about stuff and its that way - if the rules here say not to post, then I wont. But if it is a free forum, then I cant see any problem as long as I am not insulting anyone

I think you will also see from my post that I said I would await the responses of others

And btw the stuff I have learned if from THT, health workers in the uk and has been over a years worth of knowledge,as well as sexual health courses through my work as a teacher. So hopefuly I know a bit more than the average person on the street

Lassie, I don't see the intention as an attempt to push you out of the Forum. But I am not going to pull any punches in commenting. Before the dustup started, (and misdirected attention away from the original thread) you were essentially well wishing the person who started the thread since you acknowledged you didn't really know the answer.

Sometimes that kind of support can be useful. In this instance the writer had a specific question which needed to be answered and however well intentioned you weren't doing that. You know there is no sin in not knowing an answer. And sometimes the wiser thing is to step aside when you don't know something and let others handle it.

If your intention is to be helpful overtime you will find appropriate occasions to do that. Please don't allow this to become an occasion for more back and forth which as I said only distracts from the original purpose of the thread.

Cheers,
Andy Velez

I dont think I made a mistake or did anything wrong, but if this is tne case I will gladly stop posting and go elsewhere

Leaving the Forums is totally up to you, Lassie. My comments were not made to cause you to do that, so as far as I am concerned the door remains open to you.

thank you andy

I more meant as I was told off for posting in a wrong forum as well, so I kind of thought maybe I should leave

Ill stick around and hopefully Ill learn over time- but in the meantime, I guess there will be times I maybe think I know an answer. TBH do any of us truly know the answers, or are we just going on the majority of health prfessionals thoughts and is that enough? Just a thought :)

Yes, we do know the answers.   Until, you are sure of the answers perhaps it would be best not to offer advice.   The quote above is an example of that which may cause doubt in the minds of other posters.  This site relies on it's thorough credibility and cross-checking responses to make sure no incorrect information is given.   Just a thought

On this site, we utilize quantifiable first tier-published, peer-reviewed data. In many instances, that legitimate information conflicts with the CDC and other "official" sources. Unlike other sites, and unlike certain governments, we have an agenda which revolves around, simply, the facts.

"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."

Everyone,

These responses have been removed from the original thread because they constitute a serious hijack and did nothing to help the original poster.
