Concerned for 8 weeks
« on: April 04, 2017, 09:54:37 am »
Hi there. I hope you can put my mind at ease.

Approx 8 weeks ago I had an encounter with a transgender women in Phillipines. First time I've ever done it and was extremely drunk on my first night there. I'd been with female hookers earlier in the night but no sex just lots of tongue kissing in a strip club. Probably with 5 or 6 different women.

On my way home I met the ladyboy and she came back to my room. She sucked me and I think I came. I know that I was sucking her and I think she came in my mouth. We did not have anal sex.

Approx 2 days later I had a throat infection which had puss at the back.  I went to the doctors and he said it was a bacterial throat infection. I did not tell him what I'd been up to. He gave me a course of antibiotics. I was with women after this night until I went home approx another 5 days and the antibiotic course was about 2 weeks.

When I came back home my throats hadn't healed and I was panicking. I went to my local GP and told him I'd been with women not a tg. He tested for everything inc hepatitis, syphilis, herpes, gonerhea, chlamydia, HIV And took throat swabs. All came back negative. These tests were approx 3 weeks after the event. He gave me another course of antibiotics which cleared the throat up. He was annoyed with the antibiotics they gave me in Manila saying they weren't right.  I am already suffering anxiety and take elevate 100 and also now another pill to help me sleep. Throat is now OK but I keep getting symptoms of slight headache, feeling of swollen glands in the neck and sore armpits, itchy scalp, feeling of burning skin. All this happens intermittently for the last 8 weeks. I'm doing my head in waiting for the 12 week mark. I've ordered in home HIV test kit and am waiting for it to be delivered. Can you please give me some feedback?

Hi

Look this is simple receiving oral sex is not a HIV risk, firstly saliva is not infectious, it is also hostile towards HIV and contains over a dozen elements that neutralize it. To add there hasn’t been a single documented case of HIV transmission to an insertive partner. You will not be the first.

Also note that giving or receiving cunnilingus or anilingus also carries no risk for HIV transmission.

Now as for giving a blow job again saliva contains over a dozen elements that neutralize HIV. So if giving a BJ was your only concern test as you normally would at least yearly for STI's and HIV however no need to worry or to panic and no need to rush out and test.

Whatever is causing your symptoms its not HIV. So treat it and move on and remember to test as you normally should at least yearly for STI including but not limited to HIV

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

Hi Jim

Thanks for your response 3 weeks ago. This put my mind at ease at the time and had been feeling much better.

However, a lady friend of mine performed oral sex on me for about a minute on March 18 approx 2 weeks prior to me sending this. I did not ejaculate however there may have been precum.

This week I have found out she is ill with a bad flu with swollen glands. I'm doing my head in here and at the 11 week mark now. I've been frantically reviewing websites about this fearing not have I only got HIV myself but could have passed it onto a friend. At the time on March 18 if I had hiv my viral load would have been high based on the comments on websites. However there appears to be comments that precum is low risk of transmitting hiv as is receptive blow job. As you have stated in your last response to me.

Really struggling with this at the moment. Hope you can give me some advice

Thanks

Dude.

Read the below again

Now your friends status or illness means nothing to you, I don't wish to crude but her symptoms could be anything or nothing and as she is sexually active she should be caring for herself in terms of STI's.

Focus on yourself nothing you mentioned here was a HIV risk to you it is that simple.  So move on keep in mind to use condoms and that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs
