Birthdays have special meaning because, unlike major holidays, they are your own "personalized holiday". For many of our Forum members, their birthdays have held a much more significant meaning since getting their diagnosis. There's no better time to take stock of how far you've come than when celebrating another year that you lived through at each birthday; and there's no better time than at your birthday to think ahead to all the things you have to do in another year yet to be lived.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to each of you, and may you have many, many more!

For fun and interesting facts about your birthday, check out

As I try to follow in his steps, I'd like to send out a big Thank You to Alan (AlanBama) for having handled the duty of posting a birthday thread each month for so long!

Feel free to add yourself/others to this thread, if you've been left off. Athough I'll keep my eye on this thread for the names that get added, if you are not on the birthday list and would like to be (or would like to check that you are already on the list), please send me a PM with your first name (Of course, you're not required to reveal your name if you don't want to) and your date of birth.

It's pretty easy after the big 4-0.  Then, when you're about 48, you can start thinking about turning the big 5-0. ;)

I can't take credit for that though. When I was looking through Alan's past bday posts to see how he had been doing these, I came across that link and thought it was uber cool (I found out I share the same bday with Einstien and if I was a dog, I still wouldn't quite be 7 yet :D )I'm glad you liked it!

"There are 360 days till your next birthday
on which your cake will have 55 candles.
Those 55 candles produce 55 BTUs,
or 13,860 calories of heat..."

Balderdash!  I can't remember the last time a birthday cake for me had any candles.  This year will be no different.  Those who know me honor my decision to treat that day as any other day of the year, just as I do Christmas, New Years, Easter, Hanuka, Ramadan, Yom Kippur, Kwanza, etc.  All dates on a calendar.

I think it was BT65 (???) who mentioned Alastair Sim's wonderful adaptation of Dickens A Christmas Carol which I watch at least once each year, not necessarily around the holidays.   The spirit of Xmas does not last one day or a few weeks.  I try to live with it all year long.  As an atheist that's quite a conundrum but, sans the religious component, I believe in treating all people equally and, when it can be mustered, with a pleasant countenance.   The lesson Scrooge learned was to hold Xmas in his heart every day of the year... I think.  And [your deity here] bless us, every one!

P.S.  Technically 2010 is the end of the decade and 2011 the beginning of the next.  Remember, decades begin at 1 and end at 0.
String up every aristocrat!
Out with the priests and let them live on their fat!

I turned 40 on January the 3rd.  I didn't think it would bother me but it really has.  I am not sure if thinking of my mortality and having HIV has anything to do with it or not.....maybe.  I just feel a little down and that life is going by faster than I'd like.  It seems all I do is work, sleep and eat and now try to keep a handle on being poz and get my #'s up.

I am into working out but haven't been to the gym in a while because my job has been working us so much but hopefully that will slack off some and I can hit the gym more.  I know that will help me feel like my old self again.

If you wish to see the best in others, show the best of yourself.

I remember when I was diagnosed at 27 and told I probably had 5 years left to live thinking "I need to reschedule my midlife crisis!" I'm so happy that at 44 I'm able to stick to the original schedule.

Happy Birthday to all of you!   I'll retire from being the birthday poster, and become the birthday singer:

"Happy Birthday to you,  Happy Birthday to you

Happy Birthday dear (insert your name here!), Happy Birthday to You !"

I hope that Mark will continue to be the official birthday 'swatter'.

This one's for David:
Happy birthday to you, you like to be nude --
You often go camping,
And you do that nude too!

Hugs,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU GUYS.....
Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

P.S.  Technically 2010 is the end of the decade and 2011 the beginning of the next.  Remember, decades begin at 1 and end at 0.

Technically I'm full of poop but that's common knowledge.  I was mistaking decades for centuries and millennia.  Decades begin at 0 or 1 depending on your point of reference, don't they?

Plus I forgot -- Happy Bloody Buggery Birthday, January's Children!  May there be many more to come.

My older brother sent me for my birthday.  I thought it was a good one.

George Carlin's Views on Aging

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

'How old are you?' ' I'm four and a half!' You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key.

You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.

'How old are you?' 'I'm gonna be 16!' You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life! You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony. YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30.  Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before y ou know it, you REACH 50, and your dreams are gone...

But! wait!! ! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50, and make it to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that, it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80's, and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; 'I Was JUST 92.'

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. 'I'm 100 and a half!'
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

I like your style of thinking. ;)
but as I often said, if I could go back, I wanna be 21 - so I'm legal to do everything I wanna do! ;)
