i hope this worked. i am struggling here by myself to figure out how to post some pictures from photobucket. ???
ok, so that didn't work quite as planned, but the link works at least.
these are photos of our house, garden, garage, Goodspeed Opera House, and our 2 dogs. (miniature schnauzers) the little black guy is still with us (7 years old) but we lost our old gray one this spring (15+ years old). :'(
the garden was designed and built (stonework included) by me when i had the strength. i am (and always were) 130 lbs soaking wet with biceps to match. :P

beautiful east haddam, home of the world famous Goodspeed Opera House (where "Annie" was first produced) along the Connecticut River with a "swing bridge" to get us across to Haddam and beyond.
Only Westport? No Greenwich or Cos Cob?? ::)
The large white victorian next door is a B&B called the Boardman House.
Only stay if you don't mind being around the ultra right-winger owners.

Absolutely beautiful! It makes my thread about our pond look ghetto. I've been meaning to post pix from the summer, when all the plants were in full glory.
I recognized what looks like Salvia in one of your pix--those purple/lavender plants. We planted some of those around the pond. They are some of the best plants. They had color all summer long. In fact, they are still blooming. I want to plant some in the front yard next year, as having color all summer is tough with most plants. I also want to plant some Lantana. A neighbor has some and they bloomed all summer long and just now died off. We also have these plants that look like tiny carnations. They are actually looking better now than they did all summer. They must like colder temps.
Anyway, great job on your hard work. And, it is a lot of work to plant and maintain. Well, if you want things to continue to look great. Btw, did you haul in all those stones around the stream? Just laying the flag stone around the pond was back-breaking.

yes Ted, i moved hundreds of them one at a time using a dolly (like UPS uses).
UGH!
we built the garage 9 years ago in the same spot that an old foundation of a building remained. these monster stones needed to be removed. the "stream" is just the high water table and only has water in the spring. it also serves as the overflow from our pond which really did'nt show up too well in the pics.
i will have to post a few more pics when i can figure out how to use photobucket better. :P
i checked out your "hole" thread with your pond. (somehow missed that one ;D)
you did a great job!!
we put koi in the first year but a Great Blue Heron carted them all off one meal at a time. >:(
just have goldfish now and boy do they multiply fast!
we also get tons of frogs and an occasional turtle.
ducks have stopped by for a swim a few times too.

Also, is there much cock to be found in the nearby Cockaponset state forest?

1840. and yes it is the historic district.

i'm not sure but i would think there would be some "woody wood peckers". :)
