Broken condom during sex
« on: June 28, 2012, 09:34:51 am »
I have been tracking this forum since last week. Finally after reading alot of posts got the courage to share my story:

Mine is the same story of broken condom.
I am straight. I had the sex with a prostitute.During time of sex i took out  my penis 2 times, it was all safe. But finally when i pulled out my penis last time afer ejaculation it was broken.I don't know how long i was inside her with broken condome  but i think nt more than 2-3 minutes. When i returned home i saw cut near top skin of my penis due to friction.
This is the incident of exactly two years back. Since then i never had unprotected sex with any girl and also since then i never had any symptoms related to HIV + like fever, lymph node etc. But after 1 year of that incident i noticed some rashes near my groin area. First i ignored them but they continued for 9 months at strech. Still they are not fully over.I think this is candida.
I fear may be i am HIV(+).But never had courage to get tested. What you think the test results will be after 2 years.I had nothing except rashes.

I have read alot of regarding HIV + symptoms. I found, in some cases they do not show any symptoms for years. Can this be the case with me???

Yes, you had a risk with a broken condom but it was a low level risk. HIV is much harder to transmit from female to male than the other way around. And you had a single incident which was relatvely brief for exposure. The condom protected you until it broken. Taking all of that into consideration I expect you to test negative.

There is nothing HIV specific about your rash or anything else you are reporting. Which doesn't surprise me since I expect you to test negative.

Since the incident is in the far past and you have not had any unprotected intercourse since then, you can actually test anytime now. You've been torturing yourself way too long about this concern. Take a breath, frightened and all and go get yourself tested.

The odds are significantly in your favor that you will come out of it ok. Good luck and keep us posted.

andy and Ann
It was after reading your replies to various post that i got courage to get tested. For these two year i didn't get tested because i thought if test results (+) then i will not be able to live another day. I'll commit suicide.
But finally thought to over this condition by testing myself.
I will go for test after 1 month and then 'll post my results.
Fingers crossed.Hopefully it 'll be (-)

My main worries were because of the cut i noticed after the intercourse and these rashes i got for almost 10 months.???

Mistake,

Most people only report their three month results because the testing window period is three months, NOT SIX.

In fact, the vast majority of people who have actually been infected will seroconvert and test positive by six WEEKS, with the average time to seroconversion being only 22 DAYS. A six week negative must be confirmed at the three month point, but is highly unlikely to change.

A three month negative result is conclusive.

Cut the drama and just go get tested. Your result will be conclusive.

mistake,

You shouldn't have a problem in the country you are in. You can find a testing center near you by using aidsmap.com's world-wide aids service organisation database. Good luck.
