It's coming soon... just wanted to raise your AN-TICI-PAH-SHUN level before you open the package.   I suspect you've had practice at opening packages though :P

Ann:

That would be Carly Simon who wrote the song back in 1971  :)

The song appears on her sophomore effort with the same name.  Other notable songs from that album include :  "Legend in Your Own Time" and "I've Got to Have You.

OH! THAT  an.. tici.... pay.. shun!

Now let me guess... in that context, are you making me a special homemade merry widow with matching suspender (garter) belt? Make sure you put in a pair of those little push-up pillows where the boobs go, god/dess knows I need them! :D

I can make the fishnet tights.  ;)

Ann... ti... ci... oh, never mind Bailey, just get on with it already!

And thanks for the correction Jordan, how could I forget it was Carly?  :-[

ok... i'm still working on the formatting, but I thought it might be a good idea to use buttons instead of text links for the fears forum.   They are extremely tiny in size  (about 2.5 kb each ... all 4 buttons combined are smaller than most people's avatars :) ) so should have no impact on dial up users and nothing says 'click on me' like a bright, shiny button.  Don't feel obligated to use them, because I'm just testing it out (more for my knowledge than anything) but wanted a practical example.

Please be sure to read the

Code: [Select]
Please be sure to read the

i'm seriously trying to shorten up the links so it all fits in the signature and trying to figure out how to code it so in the signature, they go horizontally instead of vertically... and i'll probably make the buttons 'thinner' so there isn't as much blank space before and after the text.

So this is just an example but i think it might make a nice signature ...(horizontally that is, if i ever can figure it out)

this is the code for the signature as currently set up
Code: [Select]
code deleted and replaced by newt's much much much better code

which currently leaves 12 characters left... shortening up the image links will help open up room for coding... perhaps somebody smarter than me can figure out how it should be coded to make it horizontal

and then we have the possibly fun uses like

and

which i expect to receive heavy usage  ::)

anyways, this again is just a sample and an idea, since reading isn't big on alot of the fears forum people... a big button might have more impact than a text link.

these are free images made with xaraonline.com  (mostly a pay service but some of it is free)

ann, if you do want to use any of the images or code, you absolutely have my permission to do so.  If you want any changes to the colors or text, that's easy to do as well.   Just let me know.  hell, you can even do it yourself :) at xara becuase this image is free... just copy and save and then upload to a image hosting service (or your blog)

i'm stumped

if it makes it easier.. only use the first two links to test with... the current 4 links use up nearly all the available 500 characters and anything after that gets deleted so that might fuck it up even if it does work.

I just need a sample of how to make pictures appear horizontal, then i can work on the rest.

i suppose i can post on the smf forums about this, but i hope it's a rather easy solution that can be solved here.

But I am a pain in the ass too

If you optimised those gifs you could save 4kb = about 1 sec on dialup

If everyone started doing this....

Text links would save 8Kb, dunno why they ain't good enough

that's because you have morons like me doing shit like this that they don't really understand.

I am leaving this up to ann.... I think it's a good idea because, in the fears forum especially, people do not have a tendency to read anything they see.... having a nice visual button (especially the ocd ridden ones) will compell them to click it.

This really isn't for the more tech savvy people or the (hate to use the term but i will) intelligent ones, BUT for the ones who need to really see and read this information.

I think a part of the problem is GETTING them this information which just isn't working well in the current format.   (yes it is available, but not sure they ever click on it)

the goal is to make them want to click on it and a handy colorful button may be the way to do so.

I dunno.   How better can we get the information out?   Not that the links don't work... but i think they can work better with graphical buttons.   especially considering the fears forum crowd. (who sometimes you must smack repeatedly across the face with before they 'get' it.)

hope that makes sense... anyway, this is just a test in any event and a suggestion.  If implementated great.  If not, that's fine too.   Just trying to make the forums work a bit better.

final code with centering... and in the interest of dial up users, I can optimize them... tho that's another step but i think there are some online programs for that if it's to be implemented... but it's only a second.. but as newt points out.. in this day an age.. seconds count.

Code: [Select]

I want one!  They are cute.  I suppose they are a bit intrusive to dial-up folks, but everything here is intrusive, especially avatars.  Gotta compromise somewhere.  No big pics in the forums for the dial-up folks.  Cute little signatures for the broadband folks.  Fair is fair.

so, ummm, how do I get one.  Dingo, I want one that says....Join Skype!  (with a link to http://www.skype.com/helloagain.html).

anyone can make buttons like these by going to xaraonline.com and registering.

MOST of them cost money, but they do have a few free options (like samples i guess) of buttons and other features (you must copy and save and then upload to a hosting service as their 'save' feature will only give you a script that you can't use here.)  This is one of the free options available.

Way cool!

I love them Dingo! (and keep making ocd jibes and I'll use that "bANN your ass" one :D )

And by the way, a line break looks like this:
Code: [Select]
[br]
I use them sometimes when I use some of the smileys and stuff, keeps them from sitting right on top of the rest of your text. Had to use them in the bullet points in the Welcome threads too, so they didn't end up in a big block of text. I discovered them by accident somewhere... dunno.

Thank you Bailey, and thank you too Matt! Big hugs and pecks on the cheeks (not those cheeks damn it!) for both of you.

And by the way, the blog link in your signature line links to my blog. LOL... festering rage... I'm sayin' nothin'. Just sayin'! :D

Thanks again guys. And by the way, are you working on that FAQ page? Or is it really going to be a spam sandwich? Or was it just the links? And what about that merry widow (complete with boobie push-up pillows)? Either way, aside from a spam sandwich, I really appreciate your efforts.

Thank you to all the magicians on this site.  I cannot believe the things you can do with these keys if you only know the "KEY" to getting them done.  I really like my nice blue Blog button, and thank you all for making it available.

Now, if I only knew how to do all the other stuff that you guys are doing, we could have a real party.

Let's hear it for dialup.

This doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals,

ann, i plan on cataloguing and setting up a site for the most frequently asked questions for ya!  you'll have full admin access to edit/change as you like, if you are up to learning a website program, most of them are really easy though, and if it's just changing the text in certain areas, that's really easy.  but we can talk about that after you see the output.   I make no gaurantees, but I'm gonna give it a shot, especially since i suggested it to you a while ago.  hELL, if you like it alot, it could be included in the lessons.   Though, if i do this, i certainly expect YOU to edit/fact check my responses (which will really be YOUR responses) so i don't mess up... or at least review it before being published.

I think i found a few free services that offer lots of bandwidth and with no pictures, it should be easy and uninterrrupted service due to exceeding bandwidth (hopefully at least)   I may need to make a 'cloned' site in case that happens but i don't expect it to.

I plan on going through every thread in the new forums and answering those questions in the website, subject to my discretion on overlap and such.

for example I, plan to include a section on receving a BJ and the (lack of) risks involved addressing prositutes, the girl next door, strippers and such... hey ... it's all blowjob questions ALL THE TIME!   WHOOHOOOO!  :P

I really plan to make the inclusive of all the posts in the fears forum made thus far (in the new forums here anywyas).  I'm gonna go thru them one by one (all of them) and generate this FAQ.   I think a month is a very good sampling of the questions we get here.

I think that won't be too overwhelming but will answer the most frequently asked questions. and it's only 30 days or so of posts... which is alot, but not too much to handle... probably take more than a weekend though, which i'm gonna start this weekend.

it will be an almost verbatim copy/paste of what many responders including yourself, andy and others have given, becuase you make it concise and real.   My task here is only to consolidate it into a big FAQ that might be easier to read, rather than searching for other similar posts.

I hope this may lessen the burden on you all who contribute so much to the fears forum.   I clearly am not qualified in my emotional state to do so (hey, I'm nuts), but I do want to contribute and this is possibly a good way to give something, without having that "i wanna smack you cuz you are stupid' reaction.   Thankfully that's lessened now since I stopped sustiva and the madness is dissipating more and more.  and i'm probably much bettered suited to an organizing capacity anyways.

I'm glad you liked the buttons.   Shiny things are pretty :)

So again, this need not be used, I may link it in my signature and it truly may not help terribly much, but one doesn't know unless one tries.  People will still probably ask even though it's answered there, but perhaps less ongoing questions about their 'unique' circumstances.
