risk?
« on: June 12, 2006, 12:16:43 pm »
Hi, for the following activities are there any risks where HIV is concerned?

Getting a blowjob (this is no risk i know) getting rimmed and masterbating someone till they cum.   If their cum gets on your hand and you have slight cuts etc would that be a risk?

London,

Nothing you mention carries a risk of hiv infection. You've been posting to these forums since last February (as uk_worried in the old forum) and I'm surprised you haven't learned this by now. Please read through the Welcome Thread and follow the links to the Transmission lesson.

Sexually speaking, hiv is transmitted through unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse and very, very rarely through GIVING blowjobs. Nothing else. Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

Hi, sorry ann i couldnt seem to log in to my old username.

Yeah, the lessons have been helpful, and im not worried about receiving oral sex or being rimmed.  My main concern was getting semen on my hands that did have cuts on.   If you are telling me this is not a risk of transmission then im obviously relieved that is the case.

London,

We all had to re-register here on the new forum - it's totally new software. You could have re-used your original name, but it doesn't really matter.

And yes, I'm telling you that you had no risk through getting semen on your hands, cuts or no cuts.

Im not trying to annoy everyone here, im freaking out (which isn’t your problem) but can I really really take it that the sexual activity I described didn’t put me at any risk of HIV transmission?  (getting oral, being rimmed, cum on hands with slight cuts and hangnail)

London,

Yes, you can really really really say that you didn't have a risk of hiv infection from getting rimmed, getting a blowjob and getting cum on your slightly cut hands with hangnails. No risk, no risk, no risk.

just done a quick search and i have loads of sites telling me that receiving oral sex is a risk !    i wasnt even worried about that before the woman at tht said it.

http://www.aids.org/info/hiv-from-oral-sex.html
http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/pubs/faq/faq19.htm
http://www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/0444.html
http://www.metrokc.gov/health/apu/infograms/oralsex.htm

just some of them   :(  am getting stressed again, can i really be assured there has been no documented cases of getting hiv from receiving oral sex.

ok, im going to stop searching the net for one.   and im going to try and put this to the back of my mind for the next three months.  I dont understand why an organisation like tht, who isnt religiously/politcally motivated would tell me its a risk.  You guys were right the last time i was on here so i need to concentrate on that.

Since there has never been anyone infected with HIV due to being given a blow job then you can rest assured you won't be the first.

London,

Trawling the internet looking for information about HIV is a hazardous habit. All sorts of misinformation abounds out there and, as you have discovered, can cause people unnecessary stress. The reality is that these forums will provide you with everything you need to know about HIV.

Stick with AIDSMEDS, practice safe sex and you'll be fine.

Regards,

MtD

London,

You can search the internet all you want, you can freak out all you want, but that will not change the fact that you had no risk and if you choose to test, the result WILL be negative.

I keep thinking what if he had bleeding gums and blood got into my urethra (which has the cells needed for hiv to infect, and is i presume how tops get infected).  Or he had just been infected and had a high viral load.  But im not going to continue posting on here because this website is helping me so much and i dont want to p**s you off.  Thank you all for assessing my risk.  ann, rapidrod and mtd - lets face it all the other websites have told me low risk etc, you guys have just put it there and said no risk, and if it wasn't for you id be in a state right now.
