Anemia & HIV
« on: October 06, 2014, 07:13:12 pm »
Anyone have any experience or info about anemia and HIV? Started Atripla about 1 1/2 years ago and have now developed anemia. B12 and folate normal. Not sure if it caused by Atripla or not.

I'm on Reyataz/Norvir/Truvada and have been for several years and also am slightly anemic. Apparently I also have some iron issues. No clue if it has anything to do with the HIV.

Funny to read this. During my last DR visit, my DR said my anemia got better and I asked about it being related to my HIV and he said that anyone with any chronic conditions is suseptable to anemia and any other vitamine deficiency. So it's not so much of a big deal, just kinda makes you tired. But if you eat right and excersize it'll help. He said that one the HIV is stable fully then so will everything else.

I think you should ask to your Doctor for an Iron supplement.
You also can get a nutritionist in order to introduce healthier elemnets into your diet, there are many foods that have high levels of iron such as spinach, Brussels sprout and Swiss chard and some others not that pleasent as liver but an specialist knows better.
