Do I Have HIV? / Re: Unprotected oral and symptoms
« Last post by Fkd4stupid on Today at 07:48:30 pm »

Thank you for the prompt response. I also read some of your responses to others and see that you are very knowledgeable and compassionate so I just wanted to recognize that.

I appreciate the reassurance you provide in your response. I am still anxious about it since I have flu like symptoms and that persist and a brief rash I never had before. In looking at other resources, they seem to say that receiving oral is a risk and that HIV can infect in this manner. I saw that you rely on studies following couples and that no evidence was shown for this. Then my mind wanders to all the what ifs about the receptive personís mouth condition. I know saliva is hostile to this virus but can there be a scenario where she had some open sore or STI that changes the situation?  I ask because I canít explain away my symptoms and it times with exposure. I am not challenging your answer, just wondering how to prepare myself for a positive test result  if that occurs. On the other hand, I donít want to worry myself into a self created dark place either. Again. Many thanks and you are doing a wonderful thing for many people here.

Hi Bucklandbury, lots of good thoughts and reasonable questions in your post.

I think the ďsales pitchĒ that ViiV is pursuing with promoting 2-drug treatments is simply based on the fact that once you are diagnosed you need to stay on ART for the remainder of your life. For most of us this will be for a very long time. And if there is a way to limit the exposure to necessary medication and still achieve a favorable treatment outcome, this approach makes a lot of sense. Thus, I believe itís more than just a sales pitch, itís a new way of thinking how to best treat HIV now that there are medications available that allow such approach.

I canít provide any insight as to why you were started on Biktarvy but itís a very potent medicine and clinical trial results are very convincing in the acute treatment and for maintenance. Still, some of the ingredients in that combo may not be for everyone but this statement probably applies to most patients. Thatís why consulting with your doctor is a good idea and discussing available treatment options too.

I would agree with your statement you made that why switching when you achieve what you wanted. However, if your lab results or weight gain or any other side effects call for re-thinking this initial treatment decision, I believe itís reasonable to do so. For me personally being on Dovato, being U<20, and having no side effects, I have no reason to contemplate a switch to anything else. Hope this is helpful, best Matt
Estoy infectado? / Hi jim, I have some questions. Please consider them

Hi Jim, I have a question
Please I hope you can answer it, I need to be a little less ignorant.
I have seen in this forum and elsewhere stories of people who got infected using a condom and did not notice any breakage, tell me is it possible to get HIV even if you use a condom perfectly? ??? I look forward to your answer as honest as possible please.
Hi Circular..
I'm on ART exactly 4,5 months.
Tomorrow, in 8 hrs,  is my tests for after a three month period.
And then I will have again in 6 months from now.

Need cure... I'm too stressed. I don't wanna this fucking virus inside me.. such a science and nothing?
I'm fine but I want to delete this from ourselves.

Guys... Good night to all.
Hugs and sweet dreams

I am thinking about asking my ID in December when I see her again to let me switch as well. Assuming I am still undetectable, that will be a little over six months as such, so I cannot see why she wouldn't allow it. I have never missed a single Biktarvy dose, so adherence for me will not be an issue barring some heinous turn of events between now and then.

I go back and forth on the fewer ingredients aspect. My thinking on this is the constituent meds are all different, so one cannot compare apples to oranges that way. Maybe I missing the logic of that marketing pitch?

Come to think of it... I am not sure why I got started on Biktarvy in the first place?!

I did notice a few side effects were (potentially) slightly higher with Dovato - like anxiety. But it wasn't much more.

Another aspect I wrangle with is to stick with what works. If it's not broken, then don't fix it?!

I need to think on it more, I guess.

Do I Have HIV? / Re: Unprotected oral and symptoms

Receiving a blowjob is no HIV to you whatsoever and the sex workers HIV status is irrelevant.

Here's what you need to know to avoid HIV infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about taking PrEP as an additional layer of HIV protection

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as Ďsafeí in terms of HIV might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get tested regularly and at least yearly for STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and, the only way of knowing is by testing.

Kind regards

"We cannot change anything unless we accept it."

We are simultaneously the doctor and the patient, Jung argues.
Although very unrelated, this kind of reminds me the story of the buddha and overcoming suffering. On a note,i really love psychology/philosophy books and quotes.
Do I Have HIV? / Unprotected oral and symptoms

Hello to all.
I visited an Asian massage parlor. Female worker started to give me unprotected oral but I stopped it after a few seconds. Jumped up and washed.  Felt ok for a few weeks.  Then one month afterwards, got hit with a congestion headache and red throat. So stressed, had a slight rash of small red spots that promptly went away. Diarrhea for one day. Temp a little off but thatís it. So Iím freaked out. Went back to massage place and was assured girl was routinely checked. Yeah right. Got a finger stick 4th gen at 44 days at PP but negative. Got a full blood panel done also just to see if anything was off but nothing. Still have red throat so I am so confused. I read clearly this was an incredibly difficult transmission route statistically 0 and it only lasted seconds.  But here I am Hi anxiety which Iím sure is only making me worse. Am I fkd??  Thank you everyone

Do you like alt. country, fabio? If not, you should look into it.

Also... check out Michael Penn, which is not alt. country, but has a certain feel I think you will like.

"No Myth" - 1989

Michael is Sean Penn's brother. ;-)

Say... did you make spanikopita? Moussaka?

Haha. I love Greek food.
Haha just a failed pita gyros. I like kind of melancholic stuff when it comes to music, I'm gonna give it a listen.
