I usually use and abuse of this programme which, to say the least, makes me laugh quite often!  In fact, it all depends on what the heck you make it pronounce...

That's a good site.  They should use it on various medical websites (including certain sections here), to aide in the correct pronunciations of drug names.  I've heard so many different pronunciations of HIV meds that I'm not entirely sure how some of them should sound.

One of the most common mispronunciations is of sero as in sero-status.

Often I have heard even officials pronounce it as ZERO.

Whatever.

Wish that was the most serious HIV-related problem we had to deal with it.

That was interesting..I put in the name of my community "Mataura"...Kate from the US got it spot on and pronounced it  "Mat-ow-ra" while Catherine in the UK was way off, she pronounced it "Mata-oo-ra"..just goes to show..thanks for that Val...Happy New Year to you

I tried the word "controvesy" yesterday and the one of the Brits pronounced it American style- today the Yanks  are accenting it the way Brits do.
Vitamin was correct Curious the Brits don't sound like they are using received English - and why when you pick a guy why doesn't the picture change- is this subliminal cross dressing campaign?

Well, this is a programme which I suppose is used mainly in Europe.  Think of all the diversity that this continent has and all the applications for such a tool!
I do know that most European multinationals use it as well.
At the office where I work, we use it mainly to...have fun! You guys won't believe what the girls at the office make this poor lady say!    Of course, if you speak two, three languages then it is a lot of fun.  If you speak five, six or seven...well, it is just great!
Personally, I use it also whenever I have a littlle doubt about a word in, say, Spanish and/or any other language.
