I am having a very bad day.
« on: September 26, 2006, 03:32:17 pm »
I am finally able to keep food down, but I can't eat anything solid. Chicken broth, jello & sprite has become my diet since last Thursday.  I am only eating now because I have to.  I don't see the Dr again until Friday then he is going to discuss with me what my med options are  I don't feel like I have very many  options to choose from since I have tried so many different combos over the years. Through trial and error I have had complications with most of them.  I worked very hard to get where I am HIV wise but now I feel like the rug has been pulled out from under me.

Oh Dan! I'm saddened to hear that. You must be sick of people telling you, Hang in there buddy!, and I honestly don't have different words or wiser words than that. Have you and the doc discussed experimental treatments? The newly-approved Prezista? The Expanded Access Program for Merck's new drug?

Frankly, I could go for days living on jello, Sprite (and other sugary drinks), and various kinds of spicy bean soups; but then, I have a freakish palate.

On a more cheerful note: I was happy to see your new pic, you and Hermie hugging. Love ain't something to sneeze at.

Love,
Jay

Her full nature, like that river of which Cyrus broke the strength, spent itself in channels which had no great name on the earth. But the effect of her being on those around her was incalculably diffusive: for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs.

Hi honey,
I'm hoping that the miracle mouthwash is still doing some good.It may not take too much longer for the mucosa to heal, so you can have some real food. I've been thinking of you.

Hello Dan,

It is disturbing to hear that you cannot keep your food down. Please DO go and see your Doctor as soon as you can so that he/she can work out some sort of remedy for you.

Get well soon!

Dear Dan,

I've been following your situation and all I can offer is that I have tried at least 30 different combos of drugs over the past 22 years and I am still here.  You have the will to do this, you just need to believe that you WILL find a combo that you can tolerate, even if it means a few months of hell until you adjust.  You know that we all wish we could simply send you positive energy and things would settle down, but sometimes life just does not work that way.

My hope for you is that you can find the strength and will to renew your attack against HIV and that through your diligence you will find the right drugs for you.  You know how much we care about you, so stay in touch, even if it only to lament you are having a bad day.  Friends can make a difficult situation much more bearable, so we are here when you need us.

Be well my friend.

When I left Montreal I weighed 160 lbs. this morning my weight is 136 lbs. @ 1 PM go to see the Tenn care quack Dr.  only go to see him because I'm required to by the state of Tn. My tax dollars at work paying for nothing. What a waste of $. Still can't eat any solid food due to my esophogus being damaged by all the stomach acid from throwing up so much. I have been off HIV meds since last Tuesday and my glands are hurting and the nightsweats have started back with a vingence. Wonder what my next combo will be? I will know Friday afternoon after I see Dr. Guidi again. I am going to try and eat something solid today, but it probably will hurt too much to swallow it.

I can't take prezista because I already know I'm alergic to it because it has sulpha as one of the components .  At times I feel like Dr. G pulls combos out of a hat and says since you have had complications with the last 2 combos lets try blah, blah, blah & if that doesn't work we will try _____, ______, & ____. I was always under the impression if you were on a drug in the past & it failed you can't go back to it. Am I wrong about that?

Anyway, thanks for the encouragement. It helps more than you can imagine.

Everyone please keep Herman in your thoughts he is having a rough time at the moment. He isn't sick or anything, just some that the sale of the business didn't go as planned and it is causing a great deal of stress for him .  Send him some positive energy, he could really use it now.

Sending you both good karma. I've not had a surplus of it the last few days - damn that transition into fall - but as long as I'm breathing, I'm always willing to share and commiserate.

Best to you both.
