I was wondering if I was going to get my bday thread.  I checked the mail yesterday and today, and not a single card or package from anyone here.  ;)

Seriously, thanks for the shout out.  It was yesterday, the 4th.  Had dinner at a fancy Italian restaurant, with family and friends.  I guess you really can't ask for more than that.  I would have been happy with the Olive Garden.  Well...

37 wasn't as bad as I thought.  I remember turning 35, and I didn't want to acknowledge it.  I didn't want a cake or dinner.  I think the halfway to 40 got to me.  Those older than I can now roll their eyes.   This time, I looked at it as I am thankful to celebrate another year.  However, I would he lying, if I said getting closer to 40 didn't bother me at all.  My partner turns 40 in a couple weeks.  He says he looks forward to it.  He will talk about how he can't wait to retire and get a place in Florida.  I'm always like, "Really?"  But, I need some of that way of thinking.  Some.

Thanks again!

Got news for you sweetie, you were half-way to 40 when you turned 20. You're now half-way to 74. ;D

And yes, I'm rolling my eyes. I'm half-way to 100. And those older than me are probably now rolling their eyes at me. C'est la vie!

And things only get better as you get older (okay, not really - but, hey at least I tried - LOL)....  Life is good, no matter what age we are....

I pm'd you a birthday wish which is the same as mail.   ;)

On a side note, I found 40 very liberating.  It was truly around that time that I finally didn't care about others' opinions of me.  I had always said I didn't, but I still felt controlled by them.  No longer harboring secrets takes away others' power.

Lol.  See, my mind is already going.  I should have said half-way through my 30's bothered me.  Thanks everyone for the bday greetings and wishes.

My brother's "father-in-law" just turned 79 today, and our nephew turned 20 today.  The 79 year-old is more active than any of us.  And, he has diabetes.  He looks 60.  He's Filipino and eats tons of vegetables.  No processed foods for him.  He cooks up great meals everyday.  He retired as a barber, and would like to get a part-time job cutting hair again.  He loves going to the casino and stays up until 3am when he goes.  I would be ready to leave by midnight.  We recently went on a trip and he was following me.  I drove the speed limit, thinking he would not want to go over the limit.  He complained I was driving too slow.
