Good evening my friends , it’s been a long time that I never post anything here since my first days Of my diagnosis I would like just to let you know all that I have diagnosed (lamphoma ), my question is it a good idea if I fill out the disability forms and medical records to prove my disability status , I’m very nervous because since my diagnosis I never disclose my status to anyone only my health care providers knows about it .

Only you can ask whether it's a good idea to seek disability status.

Whether you are contemplating filing for disability through a private insurance policy or through Social Security (presuming you are in the United States), the main criterion is that you are unable to perform work (for a set period of time).

The Social Security Administration makes that determination based on whether you meet (or equal) one or more of the disability "listings" in its so-called "Blue Book."

You can access the Blue Book through this link:

https://www.ssa.gov/disability/professionals/bluebook/AdultListings.htm

Consult with your healthcare provider for a determination as to whether you may meet or equal one of these "listings."

If you do apply, certain medical information, of course, will be shared by those who review your application.  The degree to which that may discomfit you is your decision.  However, the medical information is considered confidential and not available to the general public (it's not like your neighbors would know, for example).

What's important to the evaluators is the impact that any given condition has on your ability to work and fulfill the activities of daily living, not necessarily the condition itself.
