Pre-HAART Long-Term Survivors / Re: Feeling overwhelmed« Last post by Tonny2 on Yesterday at 02:13:33 pm »ojo. Hello everyone!… I also have those kind of feelings, feeling overwhelmed specially now, if you have read my thread, my mother has been the pillar since my diagnosis in 1994 and she Is still with me after 29 years, obviously now she will be90 years old in June And now, have to take care of her and sometimes is a little bit difficult with me being legally blind. The other day she fell down and I came downstairs to check on her and I almost step on her because I didn’t see her on the floor. That makes me feel frustrated, but we have to do what we have to do, we just keep fighting together taking care of each other. Now that we are positive, we got to be more positive because we are not only dealing with a chronic condition but also, we are getting older and, if we want to keep living some more years, we have to keep fighting… I read a lot about the stoicism philosophy, and I think it has helped me to keep going strong, even with my disabilities. Like yesterday, my mother needed a medication and there was nobody to help me taking me to the pharmacy, which is around 12 blicks from my house so, I went with my dog to get my mother‘s medication to the pharmacy, it was an adventure But I made it back safe and sound.… It’s OK to feel overwhelmed once in a while, but I think that we need to keep fighting because it we did it back in the day when there was no hope for us, now, for those who didn’t have the chance to be around, I think that we owe them to keep going… Humble opinion… Virtual hugs for every Friday 4
Living With HIV / Re: I couldn't have timed this better -- how I broke to news to my date« Last post by leatherman on Yesterday at 12:44:35 pm »Quote I don’t think that he wants the same kind of relationship you want. And then.... and then yesterday, nothing. I don't get it..I know this story is a little scattered in a couple of threads but let me see if I'm understanding it right. There were dates. there was disclosure. then some time passes..... (and during this short time, he has been thinking about this health issue that he's probably never really thought about while you've had time since your diagnosis to wrap your head around it.) next you text about the weekend and he chats back. some times passes and he texts about nba and y'all chat.... ...then 1 day passes and your reaction is to think it's all over. TBH I don't think anyone can predict what this guy is thinking or wants to do because there's not enough information. IMHO if you want this guy, think y'all had the start/basis for a relationship, and think he'll be a good partner, you should ask him on a date, making sure there is some place you two can talk about moving forward. Make sure he understands your feelings about him. make sure he understands about your current health....and how treated HIV is not an issue for your wellbeing or his. Offer to use condoms (that's how I've always done it) even if U=U is a thing or PrEP is available. Do all that, and you'll know whether this guy is worth the effort or not. 5
Living With HIV / Re: I couldn't have timed this better -- how I broke to news to my date« Last post by Tonny2 on Yesterday at 11:30:01 am »Ojo. Hello Calvin, I guess now I understand why Jim prefers to tell his status when meeting a possible sex partner. Hi, like you, preferred to get to know the person first and then tell him about my status if I think that he is the one.… I think your case, you’re expecting too much from this guy, you just told him about your status and I think you have to give him some time to digest the news but, according to what you are posting, I don’t think that he wants the same kind of relationship you want. It’s either you take what he wants to keep you or start looking for somebody else… Humble opinion… Good luck and please keep us posted… Hugs. Ps forgive my typos 6
Pre-HAART Long-Term Survivors / Re: Feeling overwhelmed« Last post by StupeLupe on Yesterday at 02:18:05 am »Thats a tough one, all the chemicals for the brain are produced in the colon from fermentable fiber, when i had brain fog I saw a hiv specialist shrink and he prescribed low dose ritalin and that helped, but the thing that really cleared the fog was nicotine, my mom had alzhiemers and cutting edge treatment is nicotine patch, but that would make her puke her guts out so I started 2 marlboro red short cigarettes a week with her and that bought her 8 months of independence and my brain fog vanished, you need to get continuous glucose monitor and test sugar spikes with white flour aka bread pasta muffin etc rice, potato, corn, and anything that spikes over 150 has to be cut from your diet

Do I Have HIV? / Re: Any risk involved?« Last post by Jim Allen on May 24, 2024, 08:00:27 am »Read your post three times, you received a blowjob, touched, fingered and rubbed against her, zero HIV risk to you.
Move on with your life. Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks: Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV and get vaccinated against HPV, Hepatitis A & B. Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs. Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know. Kind regards Jim Please Note. Do I Have HIV? / Any risk involved?« Last post by Gipio on May 24, 2024, 06:43:40 am »Hello everyone,
I am a 22 year old guy and on may 13th I have been with a girl, but no penetrative sex occurred. I have rubbed my penis on her vagina, but she still had her panties on. At some point the panties got wet with sexual fluids, but I don't know if they were mine or hers. When she removed her panties I touched her labia with my bare penis tip for a few seconds, but without any obvious rubbing, also, it was far away from the vaginal duct entrance. I am afraid I might be at risk because of my exposure to vaginal fluids on both instances via the foreskin of my penis, I have also fingered her before this so I could have brought some deeper fluids on her labia. I have also received a blowjob but as far as I understand it is nil risk. What about the other 2 instances of rubbing? I am experiencing flu symptoms. Thanks for your help 9
Insurance, Benefits Programs & HIV / Re: Health Insurance in Thailand« Last post by BKKKevin on May 24, 2024, 12:48:44 am »The Thai insurance companies pretty much deny coverage for any preexisting conditions… Even a healthy individual with a high BMI is precluded…
My strategy has been a mix of coverage and just paying myself First I keep my home country (US) in place with full medical coverage - With Obama Care I get it for a very reasonable price ;-)… Next I have a long term medical insurance policy from a UK based company for $50k of medical coverage anywhere but the US. I am not advocating this company to anyone as I have never had to file a claim… I pay less than $1,000 a year for some piece of mind… https://quote.worldtrips.com/AtlasTravel/Home Here in country I have a car and motorcycle with CLASS ONE insurance that has medical insurance in case of an accident… I can not stress enough that if you are on a motorbike have CLASS ONE insurance with medical, It is easy to get and cheap… The single most reason you will end up needing medical is because of a motorbike accident. Also I have a basic accident policy that is not medically underwritten… It’s small amount but only costs a few hundred dollars a year and again I not recommended this company as I’ve never had to file a claim but it will give you an idea of what’s available… https://www.roojai.com/en/ Basic medical care is relatively cheap and I’ve always paid out of pocket… My HIV care consists of bi annual bloodwork and doctor visit that cost about $250 each…. My meds cost me ~2,000 baht a month which is about $60 usd… You can get meds for half that price at the Red Cross clinic in Bangkok… (Search this forum for more details) Here is a link to the HIV meds that are generally available… https://th.trcarc.org/medical-service/ 10
