Precise daily time for Atripla / Truvada-Sustiva ??
« on: October 09, 2008, 07:24:07 pm »
I have read wildly different posts about this - seems like doctors are currently giving varying timing instructions.
Some people seem to be be jumping through hoops about dietary restrictions and other people are concerned to take it excactly on time.

But my ID said:

1) Never miss a day.
2) Take it before you go to bed, if that is 11pm, ok, if you go out and its 4 am, ok, no problem. He said, "NO PROBLEM!"
3) Feel free to take it with food if I don't notice wild dreams.

So anyone have definitive links, or insider information on this?

I wouldn't want to be up shit creek because my doc is rather casual in his instructions.

Everyone posting what their doctor advises here won't help -- I am saying that different instructions have already been noticed.

So what is the real story?  Is Atripla or (1 a day truvada/sustiva) a HAART that must be taken a precise time everyday, and with certain dietary restrictions, or not??

Thanks to anyone who can help!

I take it every night at 10p.m as to make sure I don't forget my dose. I'm usually up at that time. I'm not saying that everyone needs to take it exactly at the same time each day but it certainly helps with adherence at least for me. And after talking to doctors, nurses, friends going 2 hours , shouldn't be a big deal. Taking it 5 hours later hmm? I rather be safe than sorry. I mean are you going to remember taking your meds at 4a.m??, there is a chance of missing a dose. Taking it at the same time or close to it makes it a habit(pill divider helps a lot too, Monday-thru Sunday) in being adherent.
Food is fine, as long  as its not high in fat as it  increases blood levels of Sustiva and may cause undesirable side effects; feeling dizzy, insomnia, anxiety.
