Internet Explorer and Aidsmeds Issues
« on: February 16, 2009, 09:27:14 pm »
Hi everyone,

Everytime I come to this site (about a week now) a window pops up and says that Internet Explorer has encountered an error and needs to close (something like that) and an option to send a report to windows. Sometimes I click on the send report button and other times I just click close. This problem is only happening on aidsmeds. Once the window closes, I can open up the browser again and start over. It must have happened to me at least 5 or 6 times today and is really irritating.

I have also been having other PC problems so I restored it back to factory settings and it seems to be working a little better. I really need to get a new laptop with a lot more storage. I like to play online multi-player games and it uses a ton of storage.

By the way, I can work my way around a computer but I'm far from an expert. If anyone has any idea's on how to fix this, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

hey Holly,

could be a lot of reasons for your troubles, including malware. I just posted some links to AntiVir, Spybot, and Ad-aware in this "Re: Security Threat on computer" thread. Try running the Spybot and Ad-aware scans. They might not be the solution to this exact problem; but they'll fix others and keep more from happening. ;)

If I was playing "ComputerTutor" today, I'd run these scans first, more than likely fix your problems, and then charge you $50  :o; but my advice is free to you ;D :-* How go the Atripla side effects? Still having any problems? I've been off cigs for 16 days now. WooHoo! ;D But lately I've had a few nights worth of unsettling dreams cause of the Chantix. ::)

Hope my suggestions help. Let me know and I'll see what other advice I can offer ;)

Thanks for the advice. I did try downloading the Ad-ware but once it is complete and to the point of needing to re-boot a window pops up that says AAWservice.exe-Unable to Locate Component, This application has failed to start because FLTLIB.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this.

I did try re-installing several times and re-booting but the same message comes up and I can't run the program. I may try again later.

I looked for an answer for you and read thru this thread at lavasoft. An explanation at the end of the thread suggests that this error happens with an un-updated windows system. The poster also says that spybot should still work on an un-upgraded system. I guess now, I would suggest giving Spybot a try, and checking on whether you windows system needs to be updated at http://microsoft.windowsupdate.com

sorry this wasn't an easy problem to fix.  ::)

I have switched to Google Chrome instead of using snail slow IE. Much much faster and hassle-hoff free. :D Also get a good anti virus/spyware. Just a suggestion-your issues seem like u may need to reformat your hard drive and install your Windows OS again. Back up first. Wise to invest in some external hard drives. Pretty good prices these days for a 500GB - 1TB ($150+/-). Good luck!

Peace!

Hello,

What version of Internet explorer are you using.  To find this out, click "Help" on the the menu bar and then click "All About Explorer". It will then tell you the version number.

I was having this problem on and off for  a few weeks...I was advised to do what   Mikie said..update your current programs.....I was given access to a program named "Driver cure "  which scans all the programs and drivers  on the computer...finds if there are updates available and if you want it to it will download those updates...since  my computer is on "auto update" from Microsoft it turns out none of the Microsoft programs/drivers were outdated.  but about 60 other programs/ drivers had newer  versions available...I have up dated most of them and I have seen that problem only once this week  versus several times a day in earlier problem times...  I also noticed that it happened more frequently when I was using  Mozilla Firefox than the Microsft explorer

I'm a Mac user, but when I was at my parents for Christmas I downloaded this on their new PC (which *I* set up!) and I agree that it's MUCH better.  Unfortunately a mac version has been going at a snail's pace and is not out of beta yet.

I just never have problems with IE.; never have had any either. ;)
I do count my lucky stars. ;D

after helping several hundred clients the last few yrs when I've been feeling "healthier" (by bascially updating their OS, installing antivir, spybot, and adaware, and running those scans) I have almost run myself out of having any clients  ::) The only ones that ever needed me a second time, for whatever reasons*, had ignored my monthly client email and NOT updated or run their scans every month. tsk, tsk, tsk ;)

*the most common reason for the ComputerTutor (aka me) getting a call has been because the "grandchildren were over this weekend". :D Grandmother only knows that they were "downloading things, music I think" and had installed "something". Now on Monday morning, Grandmother doesn't know why she can't play hearts on pogo.com. It keep locking up and she just pushed the power button to make it stop. Oh, and should she have clicked that flashy message that said her system was infected and this program would fix it? ::)  :D I love those people! After a couple hours fixing things and explaining things (so many people just never took "computers" in school), the computer is running happily once again and the clients are happily playing online again. Everybody is happy.

Oh, I'm happy too, at $20 hr x 2-4 hrs. ;)  :D
