Tiger Woods Settlement - Sickening
« on: July 01, 2010, 10:43:47 am »
Tiger Woods' former wife Elin Nordegren will get the biggest payout ever seen in a celebrity divorce case, The Sun reported.

The settlement awards Nordegren $750 million and custody of the kids, but she must forfeit her rights to talk about the golfer's flings.

"The price of the huge sum is her silence: no interviews, tell-all books, or TV appearances about this for the rest of her life - even if Tiger dies first - or she'll lose the lot," a source told the Sun.

Tiger must also abide by certain guidelines, and must keep other women away from his three-year-old daughter Sam and one-year-old son Charlie.

According to The Sun, a friend said Elin is desperate to protect the children from the womanizing side of their father.

While Elin gets sole physical custody of the kids, Tiger gets to share legal custody, meaning he still has a say in decisions about their future.

That means Elin will not be able to permanently relocate them to her native Sweden.

Seriously...I have a problem with 750 MILLION dollars. She didn't fucking work (and I am a feminist...i know she was a model and a housewife who made public appearances for her husband) or bring in the dough. It just seems excessive.

Weigh in if this has not been posted.

Thats the law and they knew it when they got married. He knew it. He's not ending up broke. Who cares if someone's fortune is reduced by half when its so much money?

It's the price for her silence.  Too bad he didn't pay the hookers enough hush money so they didn't blab to the degree that Vanity Fair could devote two entire issues to the story.  Did you read those?

Its just money , there are worse things to lose in a divorce other than money . I'm not comfortable with being punitive to a woman when both party's agree for her to be a stay at home mother and when divorce time rolls around suddenly she didn't do her part . What is equitable to the rich can also be applied to lower income family's under the law if the law works .

This happend to my mom and many other moms and its hard on the children as well  . It took all my will growing not to resent my father for living the high life while we had little . My dad lost my brothers respect over this , money cant buy that back but money and greed is what lost it .

That makes both us. Mmmm, it would be some fire too, Lawd!!!! And D, well, what do you expect, not many marry for love anymore but what you can bring to the table. She may be well taken care of but so will his kids. She is also a model so she is use to a certain lifestyle, I would expect. Plus Tiger didn't cheat with just one woman but many, I lost count of how many. It should teach him to think with the right head instead of being led around by his johnson. I don't feel one bit sorry for his ass. I know Paul McCartney is glad they can stop talking about his divorce being the biggest payout.... ;)

Hopefully she'll remarry, a nice guy who won't betray her so grossly, and the two of them will live on Tiger's dime. hahahaha - Sometimes its much cheaper to keep your pants on, Tiger.

When one has that kind of money, it's really hard to find true love. It does happen but man, how can one really be sure. Even with pre-nups, we see a lot of court cases. Scary. :o

Elin was a model. No ,she didnt work while married to Tiger, maybe he didnt want her too. Had she not married Tiger, or if she had worked during the marriage as a model she would have been earning something, how much would she have earned we dont know. I'm no divorce attorney, but  that in itself would seem to be worth a nice payout, given a woman of her stature.

That and the fact that she is due half of what he earned while they were married, and the fact that it's hush money.... yeah, I can see how it is $750mil.

Something tells me it would have been alot less if he had only 1 mistress....

When you get married and then divorced you split your assets down the middle regardless of who contributed what or how much.  My guess is that 750million is exactly half of their assets.  If he didn't want to pay out perhaps he shouldn't have caused the divorce or gotten married in the first place.

Elin needs to use that $750 million to make even more money by going after all his mistresses in alienation of affection lawsuits. Of course she would need an army of lawyers given the number of women he slept with but if they worked on contingency she could release the hounds, kick back and let revenue flow! For the children's sake I hope he hooked up with women who have two pennies to rub together because, you know, it's all about the children. ;)

i totally get that most people won't agree with me on this one. shit, i was at group tonight and i was the lone person mortified by the settlement amount.

i still fill that 750 million for being cute and bearing 2 kids is WAY TOO FUCKING much. period. the kids probably have nannies and chefs. they will have everything they need. a couple 100 million, ehh, it's excessive but still understandable. 750 million. i'm sorry, but that is over the top. no one family needs that much money. no one disgraced ex-wife needs that much money. i don't care if it is an example or if the law recognizes that 750 million is 1/2 of what he accrued in their marriage. it is excessive.

we are allowed to have our opinions and this is mine. it was mine when i was sober 4 hours ago and it is the same after a few cocktails. aint no ass, no matter how many kids it bears or how hot it is (modeling, fucking, or peddling cookbooks) is worth 750 million dollars.

and if it was...it should be so somewhat independently. i didn't make the law, i just disagree with the settlement.

best,
d

If this guy can make over a billion dollar playing golf then why shouldn't conceiving and raising two children be worth $750 million?

i still fill that 750 million for being cute and bearing 2 kids is WAY TOO FUCKING much. period.
of course it's too much for bearing and raising two children; but this money isn't about the children. It's about what the law on the books has determined to be fair and equitable in spiltting the assets after a divorce.

If she had bore him no children, she still would have been eligible for approx. half of what he made while they were together. The law has determined that it's the joint venture of a marriage that allows the parties to earn the money and hence both parties should enjoy in it's outcome.

$750 million may seem extravagant; but there are a lot of women out there that this law is also protecting and are getting half of $50k so that they (and often times with children) don't end up homeless.

Don't hate her for the way a fair law protected her as it protects many women from being financially abused and becoming homeless after a divorce. Don't hate her because she fell in love with and married a man that was able to make an incredible fortune walking around green lawns, whacking a ball around with a metal stick. (you know, it's not like she married him, so years later they could divorce and she would get this kind of money.)

Instead hate the system that rewards that kind of "job" with that kind of money, while underpaying hard-working trash collectors, teachers, electricians and construction workers.

Aww come on, Tiger was boning over 5 woman. Anyone know the exact number, I forget. And that is prolly another reason why she got so much. It was in every paper, the world talked about it forever. There goes ya pain and suffering.....Need I say more? Don't hate on her because some judge prolly decided to take pity on her.

That's exactly what I hate.

And ok, if I'm totally honest, I'm jealous that men who chase balls around make so damned much money. But, I don't hate them.

no, I don't hate Tiger, nor any of my Cleveland Indian baseball players (I couldn't care less about the Cleveland Browns LOL), or any sports figure personally. More power to them for their physical abilities that are able to afford them such lucrative "jobs". But I've always hated the system that values professional sport players and athletic participants over the artistically and intellectually gifted. Not to mention the sense of priorities of the value of teachers vs. football players.

Well my dears, next week I have to teach an entire intensive course, in a heat wave no less, since the deans were so disorganised as to arrange the normal 2-3 teachers required.  And I don't have the cash for a holiday in August, its been paycheck to paycheck for about 6 months now. So I appreciate the kind words for the teaching profession!!!

I think she was paid so high for her silence.  I'm sure there is much more dirt than what actually got out and I've heard the deal stipulates that she doesn't talk about the affairs... no book deals, no interviews, no nothing.

It does seem the big payouts always come from straight marriages. I don't believe I ever read anywhere about settlements big enough to make the gossip news for gay marriages or unions; maybe cos gay marriages weren't around as long or as well pursued.  ???

Just look at the recent divorce of Melissa Etheridge. She even filed court papers to prevent child support, leaving Tammy Lynn Michaels blindsided & broke. Seems pretty nasty and cheap to me, given Tammy bore 2 kids with her. >:(  :'(  :P

i don't care if it is an example or if the law recognizes that 750 million is 1/2 of what he accrued in their marriage. it is excessive.

Correction - it is half of what they accrued during their marriage.

i totally get that most people won't agree with me on this one. shit, i was at group tonight and i was the lone person mortified by the settlement amount.

i still fill that 750 million for being cute and bearing 2 kids is WAY TOO FUCKING much. period. the kids probably have nannies and chefs. they will have everything they need. a couple 100 million, ehh, it's excessive but still understandable. 750 million. i'm sorry, but that is over the top. no one family needs that much money. no one disgraced ex-wife needs that much money. i don't care if it is an example or if the law recognizes that 750 million is 1/2 of what he accrued in their marriage. it is excessive.

we are allowed to have our opinions and this is mine. it was mine when i was sober 4 hours ago and it is the same after a few cocktails. aint no ass, no matter how many kids it bears or how hot it is (modeling, fucking, or peddling cookbooks) is worth 750 million dollars.

and if it was...it should be so somewhat independently. i didn't make the law, i just disagree with the settlement.

best,
d

sounds a bit jaded and jealous. How much did you get get from your previous ex BF's ...or how much did you end up paying ?

hello grasshopper,

i ended up getting hurt. and also learning a valuable life lesson. i didn't pay anything, like no settlements and whatnot. but im still fucking here. and im dating someone else now.

and i hope that this one will work out. im an optimist to a flaw. im definitely a bit more on the jaded side. i think it gives my personality a nice quirk.

i'm also cocky and an arrogant asshole. i like that too :)

oh, and btw...im ok with the 100 million if you didnt notice. i do think that infidelity is fucked up. and i believe he should be punished...don't get it twisted.

have a great night,
