Title: Romney the troll!
Post by: mecch on July 12, 2012, 04:27:46 pm
http://gawker.com/5925362/romney-to-naacp-if-you-want-free-stuff-trollface-try-voting-for-the-other-guy

I love that lots of media is carefully picking apart Romney deliberately getting booed by the NAACP.

Yesterday, he spoke to the NAACP national convention, stood firm on an issue, elicited boos and, hours later, embraced the boos in another speech. If the campaign were a message board, he might as well have closed with a Cam'ron-inspired "u mad?"

For 14 seconds, the NAACP audience booed Romney's pledge that he would repeal "ObamaCare." Later, speaking in Hamilton, Mont., Romney said, "If [Affordable Care Act supporters] want more stuff from government, tell them to go vote for the other guy—more free stuff. But don't forget, nothing is really free."

Dance, puppets!

_____________

As a minor, semantic point, would some Troll experts please share their wisdom?

Who got trolled here?

Blacks?  My understanding of these terms is that they got flame-baited, which is a more specific and narrow action in the "trolling" arsenal?  (On topic message, with an expected negative/angry response.)

And its the stupid white racist voters who are getting "trolled".  (Inflammatory stereotype of black freeloaders raising the emotional involvement of white racists to vote against Obama.)

Correct?

Of course Romney's foray was staged for effect with the clear expectation that he would hear the Boo Choral at the NAACP gathering.

It's the chat among my family and friends.  The good news is that my 3 year old god granddaughter, 88 year old aunt, the bus driver, toll collector, primary care physician, county police officer friend, and the cute thug across the street collectively sighed "Oh, please!" to his antics.

"Next!"

One does get the feeling that he might be arriving at the tipping point where the majority of Americans will find him absolutely ridiculous, shameless, and revolting.

What faith you have in the American Electorate

Keep faith alive!
knowing how well advertising works on the masses, and knowing how much money is being spent makes keeping the faith very difficult.

you simply wouldn't believe the lies, half-truths, and utterly ridiculous things said on TV and spread through the internet that many people just believe without questioning (a practice I believe is learned through religion). The sheeple eat up what their leaders and advisers say without any proof whatsoever - sometimes even when the truth of a matter is shown.

for example, my mom received an email from a friend claiming Blue Cross was informing it's clientele that the medicare premium would be tripling in the next few years. (http://www.snopes.com/politics/medical/medicare.asp) My mom believed it because surely her friend would not send false info. That lady believed it for the same result from the source she got it from, and that person believed it because "blue cross wouldn't lie". Just the thought of a premium like that tripling sounded fishy to me and a simple search showed that this rumor has actually been circulating since Obama was elected. It's just been updated to reflect that "Obamacare" will certainly be the cause.

Many people will take Romney at face value talking about "free stuff", even though the ACA is a mandate for individuals to purchase health care insurance, because surely a leader like that, just like the pastor in a church or a corporation like Blue Cross, wouldn't lie about that sort of thing. Just yesterday on FB, a friend explained that he heard in a debate on TV (faux news I'm betting) that Obama was pushing for world peace and was going to destroy America by turning it into part of some world organization. I told him that if by watching TV he thought a vote for Obama would make the US be part of the United Nations and bring on some sort of doomsday scenario then he needed to turn off his TV immediately because that was just insane.

For hundreds, if not thousands, of years people have been trained to blindly believe what they are told by those in authority without applying any critical thinking. Sadly, that trend is still alive and well in these modern ages.

What faith you have in the American Electorate

That faith in the American Electorate is well placed, as long as there are citizens who care about what happens to America.  Painting any country with a broad brush is more of a reflection on you, than on anyone else.

When John Sununu goes on television and says that Obama is a socialist stoner who needs to learn how to be an American, I'm sure that he says that in the context of "caring about what happens to America".

Well at least Obama is ok to fight down and dirty.  i would like to see him personally making campaign speeches quite soon, not just the dem's attack ads.

Obviously people will be persuaded by the ads and either the conservative or the liberal media.  What Obama can do is set the terms of what will be discussed and, as he says, make the facts about Romney into some kind of "story" - that enough Americans will understand, and find revolting.

The offshore wealth is great.  More please.  Lets get all the years of paying practically no taxes (probably).  Romney is definitely the new Kerry.

I wish Obama had gone harder, two years ago, and prosecuted some high profile investment bankers. America isn't stupid and sees both parties as too much in bed with Wall Street, Corporate Lobbies, and the interests of the 1%.  Both parties...

Still, Romney has to play quite dumb and much of the time.  "They say" that in fact its all very acute brilliant cost benefit analysis, his tactics, and he's brilliant at that. Not the average guys he seems...  I dunno.  But he really is being shown up as a phoney and if the Dems can continue this theme with ever more stories, every week, that show the many ways Romney is duplicitous, then I do have faith Mr and Mrs Joe and Josephine Average will see it.  The Republican party elite don't like the guy, this was blatantly obvious the past few years.

The Pope and Obama are on the same stage in Yankee Stadium in front of a huge crowd.

The Pope leans towards President Obama and said, "Do you know that with one little wave of my hand I can make every person in this crowd go wild with joy? This joy will not be a momentary display, but will go deep into their hearts and they'll forever speak of this day and rejoice!"

Obama replied, "I seriously doubt that! With one little wave of your hand....Show me!"

So the Pope backhanded him and knocked him off the stage!
AND THE CROWD ROARED & CHEERED WILDLY and there was happiness throughout the land!

Kind of brings a tear to your eye, doesn't it?

Well, perhaps if you lived here, you'd get complete news coverage. He has been out making speeches -- in fact, this weekend he gave one about 3 miles from my house, outside, in the middle of thunderstorm.  He was soaking wet -- as was the crowd.
One did have to question, however, the wisdom of keeping a large group of people outside in a thunderstorm to hear a political speech.  Seemed to be a risk that could have turned very bad had any of the many lightening strikes hit in that area.

I didn't get meech's comment about campaign speeches either. You don't even need to live here, it's been fully covered in the media.
