Title: hello-please answer question about risks
Post by: george.v on November 05, 2012, 11:40:43 am
Hello,

I live in east europe so please understand  the particular nature of the problem i am describing.
Almost 3 weeks ago i went to a club to celebrate the birthday of a friend. I was having fun, drinking and talking to people, until some point when i noticed on my straw and also in the glass a strange composition looking alot like sperm kept in water. By that time i drank most of the alcohol in the glass.

I now presume the worst and therefore ask you: if that was indeed sperm and if it was infected what is the risk of getting infected with HIV, Hepa b, c, d etc? The liquid iof the glass was composed out of alcohol and juice with ice (i think that if it was something it was in the ice because i think i saw the glass before they filled it in front of me).

In terms of symptoms of course i think i have them all but that's just the human mind under stress.
Please excuse my bad english, it is not my native language, and thank you in advance for youre answers!

You are worrying absolutely needlessly and without any basis whatsoever in HIV science. HIV is a very fragile virus. Once exposed to the air it is virtually immediately rendered unable to infect. So you could have had straws covered with sperm in a glassful of sperm and it would not have been a risk.

Unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse are the only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV. As long as you properly use condoms for those activities you will be well protected.

Get on with your life. HIV is not a problem for you.
