Looking back...
« on: September 16, 2013, 06:44:57 pm »
I thought to check out my childhood home. It brings back lots of good memories. My parents bought a "farm" in 1967 and turned it into a "colonial settlement" in Minnesota. There were covenants involved as to the style and age of anyone building a house when they divided the property.
Minnesota became a state in 1858 I believe but the houses were to reflect the era of 1800 or earlier. It is an anomaly, ie: a bit out of place.

Anyway this is where I grew up from 1967 to 1976.

My parents then decided to move into the real thing just before my senior year in high school. I stayed in MN to finish and lived here by myself until graduation.

Funny looking back that I lived in this place alone.

I just got some old family photos from my sister in the mail. They are a hoot!!!

ya, lovely. ::)
8 miles to the nearest gas station. boonies! it was fun as a kid but...
funny thing is, the lady who lives there now bought the place from my parents in 1976. the house hasn't changed that much.
the log houses were my dad's idea. he brought them in from a distance in MN and turned them into livable homes. it really is quite unique.
I really did enjoy the freedom as a senior in high school.  ;)
a 70 something year old gay antique dealer owned the place. he was nice, but not TOO nice. whew! And, he didn't live there. whew! :)
what a strange life.

Ok, Guess I started this thread all wrong.
I was hoping to see more old pics from others. Didn't want to turn this into a Mitch family slide show but thought the photographs would be amusing anyway. (even not knowing the ones who were captured)
I will continue anyway. :)

So these are relatives apparently. I don't know who the hell they are.
The one with the big smile reminds me of the wicked witch of the west.

Again, don't know how these ladies are related but being a nut must run in the family. As you can see I have no shame. :)

I bet it was hot as hell dressing the way they did back then . I cant stand the thought of putting on a suit except during the winter months and request that my family refrain from being the cause of summer funerals .
