Bipolar II and Triumeq
« on: February 19, 2016, 02:56:51 pm »
I was diagnosed with HIV 4 years ago and have been on Atripla and then Complera since then. The Atripla caused psychotic breaks due to the interaction with my Bipolar II disorder (I thought I was smoking weed with Hillary Clinton, that bad). Complera worked just as well without the same side effects, but I find eating difficult on it and the meal requirement is a barrier to good adherence. It also ruins the experience of eating and I can't eat whenever my friends go out, I have to stick to a schedule.

My doctor said I could try Triumeq as an alternative. Has anyone with Bipolar or schizophrenia (seem to be related neurologically) had any experience with Triumeq? I tend to lean very depressive in my mood swings more so than hypomanic.

Thanks for sharing your expiriences  :)

Sorry to be so slow to get back to you.

I'm a depressive so and so. I'm managing Complera quite well. It's a breakfast dose for me.

None of your friends need to know what your pill is, it is just a pill, might be a 'vitamin', might be a 'prescription drug', who cares what a stranger thinks it is. Honestly no one will judge you because you have to take one pill a day.  You can have it with any of your meals.
Nobody who isn't someone you trust needs to be there for your 3 meals a day to make sure you're not taking a 'vitamin'.

It's not a chore, it's your best friend, it has your back.

I have no experience with Triumeq.

Good luck sweety
