I'm off in a couple hours for the opening day screening of "300" and a couple hours feast of near naked men with facial hair wearing sandals and leather armor... and lots of sweat.

Well, you have to understand that "300" is a visual excercise in over-stylization.  I think that's the concept, so if you hate the idea you'll hate the movie.  It's VERY stylized, and I found many of the effects over-used, notably the slow motion stuff.  BUT, there are parts that are fabulously visual, and of course once you factor in all the extremely overt homoeroticism (the entire film seems cast straight out of Jim French's loins) you've got at least a fun night out.

It's not earth shatteringly important, nor is there really any overriding important morality element to it that I could find, but as a visual excess concept statement it's enjoyable.

I've never seen so many six-pack abs bare in one movie in my life.
