Hi franfrog! I too have two kids from a previous relationship who are also negative. Mine are 2 and 3 and boy do they keep me busy.  I would love to chat with you as well. My relationship is new as I recently broke up with my fiance (who infected me) and met this new guy. We have been together for about 2 months and it is going very well. He is very supportive.  I am hoping he will go to my next appt with me. He is actually my neighbor (I just moved into my house in April) and we noticed eachother right away, but of course I was with my fiance and I am not one to cheat. I soon realized I didn't want to be with him and knew that I wanted to explore new things with the neighbor but was terrified to tell him my status but knew I had to. At first I thought I would wait to tell him once he got to know ME but soon realized that wouldn't be fair so I told him on our first date and he was incredibly supportive. Anyway, I am glad to hear others are in the same situation. Can't wait to get to know you guys.

THat is great Jen.  I am glad to see that your neighbor is so supportive.  HAve you told your children of your status?  I know they are still young but have you told them anything?  I was diagnosed a little over 4 years ago and I just recently told me children who are 14 and 11.  They were much mopre supportive then I thought they would be.
I see you have myspace-I will have to contact you through there.

No I haven't told them anything yet. Trying to explain why they have to pee on the potty is one thing, I couldn't imagine them understanding this. That is got to be the toughest part for me. While I am optimistic that I will live a long healthy life, I can't shake the thought in the back of my mind of , "what if'. Sure, anyone, healthy or not will always wonder but when I was negative it wasn't at the forefront of my mind, you know the thought of dying before my children. I only have 6 months under my belt and alrerady on my second regimen, so maybe after some years go by I will be convinced. Definitely look me up on myspace!

I defenitly understand they are still young.  I do know the feelings that you have though, what if.  I plan on being here a long time and seeing my children married and children.  It is in the back of my mind always though.  I  have been on combivir and sustiva for 4 years now but I was poz for about 9 years at my diagnosis so I have a bit under my belt already.   :-\
Well I requested myspace and hope to hear more from you.

I'm in a relationship with an HIV+ person myself.  We have an 11yr old daughter together, she was conceived before we knew he was HIV+.  I am negative & so is our daughter.  We have been apart for most of our daughter's life, but just recently decided to get back together.  I love him, always have.  It wasn't his status that kept us apart, there were other issues....  Right now we are happy, enjoying being a family again.  It will be nice to talk to other people in similar situations!  Everyone here is so nice and very knowledgeable.  Looking forward to posting with all of you!
