Title: think i may have waited too long to get tested
Post by: scaredstiffforareason on January 10, 2013, 06:05:23 pm
hi.the reason im writing this is because i think i may have been infected 11 plus years ago.i have thrush with angular chelitis.i have had it for a long time.4 years or more.i thought it may have been from smoking or drinking.i didnt know what it was until i looked it up a few months ago and what i read scared me very badly.i kept looking things up trying to find an explanation and it kept going back to the same thing hiv.i went to urgent care and tested my blood sugar which is normal and no diabetes.a couple weeks after that visit i started seeing pink patches coming up on my face which im scared is ks.after i saw them i finally broke down and went to emergency room and told them what i though was going on.when the doctor came in he seemed unconcerned and told me i didnt have aids but if i didnt believe him he would give me a test.i showed him this purpleish growth on my thigh and he said it was a pimple and i said what?then he asked me do i have sex with men and i said no.well he came back 30 min later and said i was negative and to follow up with my doctor.i did and he said he wanted to do a more formal test.it was an icma antibody test from labcorp.it came up negative.i showed him my spots and he said he didnt know.i also have one in my mouth below my bottom wisdom tooth.it is about a half inch by about an inch and it is bluish purple.my doc said it was probably a dialated vein.i am seeing eye floaters very frequent now and i generally feel weak.im still working but im not as fast as i was before.6 months ago i wasnt worried at all about something like this and now its hitting home.i remember going to the dentist 3 years ago with a real bad abcessed tooth.he give me antibiotics and told me to come back.as i remember before i walked out he asked me if i ever was tested for hiv and i said no and he said he recommended that i did.well i shrugged it off thinking he is just a dentist and what does a dentist know about hiv.well i know now from research that sometimes they are the first to know.i really want to believe my negative results but i have read some stories on here about people testing negative for antibodies because of end stage disease and being sent home and winding back up in the hospital weeks or months later with pcp.whoever responds please give it to me straight and help me with the advice i need.

Your doubts and fears notwithstanding, you have more than reliably tested negative for HIV. You ARE HIV negative. Period. End of story.

If your symptoms continue you need to discuss them with your doctor to find out what the real cause is. It's definitely not HIV.
