Greetings folks!
« on: May 28, 2017, 09:32:38 am »
New to these forums, and I was requested to introduce myself, so here goes...

I've been HIV+ for...well, look at that!  This Memorial Day will be my 9th anniversary since sero-conversion...I'm on Atripla, and have been undetectable with a CD4% of around 30% for the last eight and a half of those 9 nine years, and otherwise very healthy.

I'm retired (I'm 58 and retired early - good investments!), and an active homesteader in the Green Mountains of central Vermont (hence the screen name), where I live with my husband and tend 5 acres of apples, maples, pears, walnuts, berries, chickens, bees, trout, and ducks (we have a pond) and other assorted veggies and herbs.  When not tending the land, we make frequent trips to Montréal, New Orleans, and New York, as we are both Francophiles, Broadway devotees, and party animals  8)

FWIW, I'm a Coast Guard vet and my Hubby is Navy.  Needless to say, it was a transition to go from sea-life to mountain life, but it works...although I do miss a good tall-masted barque...

Welcome!

I grew up in New England - RI and got my B.S. degree at UVM (I just LOVE Burlington).  I have lived in VA for the last 17 years.  I'm an Army Reserve vet - served in Desert Storm.

Glad to have you aboard (see what I did there.....).  This is a great place with lots of great people -- it helped me so much over the years -- especially when I first joined shortly after testing positive in late 2005.

Now -- if we could just find a way for you to share the maple syrup you get from your trees......   They simply don't know what "real" maple syrup is down here....

You got that right!  Too much of the country thinks that colored corn syrup = maple syrup.  BLEECH!

And to the earlier post who asked:  Yes, every self-respecting Vermonter makes their own syrup :-)

Welcome to our group! Glad life is good and you are healthy.

I will also confirm that most of our nation has no clue about true syrup.... the store bought stuff is not to put it mildly.
