Title: Cabenuva depression?
Post by: Rosie117 on July 22, 2023, 08:36:32 pm
Hi all, I started Cabenuva in September after being undetectable on pills since my diagnosis in 2014. I have been so happy to get shots instead of take pills, it is such an amazing difference. Being undetectable and not taking pills makes me feel like I’m living my old normal life again. I haven’t had any side effects, except for painful lumps at the injection site and a few times about a week after my injections I had pain in my hip joint that made it hard to walk normally but that resolved pretty quickly each time.

I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing depression? I see it listed as a potential side effect, and I am curious how exactly- scientifically speaking- it can cause depression? I have been feeling pretty down lately, and having obsessive thoughts about stuff. I did go through a divorce in the past year and a pretty serious romantic relationship after that which hasn’t been the best. So it could just be cumulative stress that’s making me feel this way but I’ve never felt it like this before. I had depression as a teenager 20 years ago and I don’t even remember it being this bad then.

I am going to my doctor this week, I’m not thinking of harming myself or anything. Just wanted to reach out and see if anyone else experienced it to this level? I don’t know if I should consider the medication to be the cause or just my life issues right now.

Sorry to hear you've been feeling miserable.

I can only suggest that maybe you're feeling
Par big which has given you space to take stock of how life's treating you.

Try all the tracks in the book. Phone a friend, to out for coffee and cake, pat a cat or dog, get out of the house for a walk or a bike ride, try breathing/ mindfulness.

Everything you n try apply it..

See if your dr can refer you to a counsellor.

Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

The Cabotegravir in Cabuneva is quite similar to Dolutegravir(Tivicay). Both can cause Depression or suicidal thoughts. I think that it is still unknown why. It should be watched carefully if it should happen. I take Dovato ( contains Tivicay too) for quite a time, and I am quite happy with it.
Maybe U havee to change the meds if the depression doesnt get better.
I couldnt stand the pain of injections, so I had to quit it.
Now I am waiting for the weekly pill of Lenacapavir and Islatravir, but thats another topic. Good luck to You.
