Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Scared and need direction

I am a male and had vaginal and oral sex  with a sex worker 7 weeks ago. Both cases I had condom.
3 days ago (and still continues) I have following symptoms: Chilled fever up to 102 F: sore throat: can not swallow or drink: Swollen lymph nodes; no cough; no runny nose or sneezing. I have been in bed last three days; last night I went to emergency: doctor suspects step throat: she saw white spots in my throat which is a sign of infection she added. I was with my parents so could not ask anything about possibility of HIV infection.
1) I read that symptoms mean nothing} but mine are so alike of ARS symptoms. And I have been prescribed strong antibiotics ore sore throat but is not working; which inreases my worries.
2) Should I be worried and get tested
3) Is it possible to have ARS around 40th day. (6.5 weeks)

I forgot to add night and day sweats..Whole bed is soaked each night.

You had protected sex. No risk in contracting HIV. Your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV.

Condoms provide very effective protection against HIV transmission. No matter what kind of a job your head is doing on you about your symptoms, you have no basis in science for believing HIV is the cause.

Discuss your symptoms with your doctor. This is NOT an HIV situation.

We also recommend that anyone who's sexually active ought to regularly have a full STD panel done. That means at least annually. Other STDs are much easier to acquire than HIV, so it's just a prudent precaution we're suggesting.
