HUGE increases in Anthem Blue Cross CA rates
« on: May 03, 2011, 02:55:45 am »
Wow, biggest cost increase I've seen. Preceded by a letter announcing that lifetime limits were gone, with other healthcare act changes.

Then letter to raise prices blaming it in part on healthcare reform.

Monthly rate about $450 to $650. Doctor visit copay $35 to $40. med copay 30 to 35. Med deductible annual from $500 to 575.

I'm grateful to have coverage. But wow, 45% increase??

(Partly because of some prior maneuvering by Anthem) the new health care law gives states more powers to regulate insurer premium increases -- including the ability to declare a rate increase unreasonable and not able to go into effect.  You might want to talk to someone at the California insurance commission office -- just to see if you have any options.

Call the Consumer Hotline at 800-927-HELP  (800-482-4833 TDD) to ask a general health insurance question,
