Feeling paranoid: did a Google search on my screen name
« on: October 25, 2007, 01:02:32 am »
For some reason, I just noticed the privacy warning in the welcome message at the top of the AIDSmeds home page. Feeling a little paranoid, I decided to do a Google search on my screen name.

I was amused to find that there were so many allanq's scattered around the internet, including a member of a forum for Filipino wi-fi enthusiasts. It was strange that of my 467 posts to this group, only a few found their way into the Google search results. I wonder how the Google search machine decided which of my posts to include.

I think we should all be mindful that anything we write here will be archived and searchable. The few times that I googled myself (my full name, different screen names, etc), I found stuff that I wrote way back in the late 80s using a pre-Windows computer linked up to my college's internal BBS are still stored and can still be read in some websites. I just assume that if someone wants to track me down with one of my other screen names they might be able to do so as I used my proper email addresses that can directly identify me to register.

The privacy warning here is valid and folks should take note of it.

Shaun

(who's randomly chosen screen name here turns out a not-so-uncommon Greek's family name.. )

I got curious and googled my name and most of what I saw was Queen of the Damned references and some chick who has a myspace page. I went as far as 6 pages into the search.....

Does that make you and Matty the Damned husband and wife, or have you morphed into each other or something. This is scary stuff!!!  ;D

Me, the real me that is, is relatively obscure on the internet. There are a couple of work papers and presentations that I have given on there but they are well down the list.

I am, apparently, also a singer with my own music ministry and website. www.stephenatkins.com. The poor guy, if only he knew.
I was also, apparently, a black soldier for the Union Army in the US Civil War.
And, I am the proud owner and trainer of a number of fairly successful greyhounds, a doctor, a full time academic in NZ, and researcher presenting papers on the successful management of departure queues and runway efficiency.

Strangely, when I search my username here I get a lot of information on small, furry rodents.

Edit:

You're not stealing Matty from us. Your team already has Jake Gyllenhaal and Johnny Depp. Back off.  :D

I Googled mine and came up with this: http://boardreader.com/t/Living_With_HIV_67849/Have_You_Prepared_16245.html.  This seems a bit odd, as I've not heard of 'boardreader.com before.  At first I thought it said 'boredbreeder.com' and I knew it wasn't about me!  However, I'm sure I would make one bored breeder!  Atripla can make things a bit fuzzy first thing in the morning.

There are so many websites out there with my name, I went through quite a few google pages, never saw anything about my AIDSmeds participation.  This was the first one to pop up WEBSITE OF NADINE JANSEN ! This Site features nudity and adult themes.   :-\

hey folks,
Did a search on Razorbill, and came up with 209,000 references - 99% of the first twenty pages of which were bird articles, taxonomic studies, birdwatching reports, a youtube video of a Razorbill swimming underwater and 1% some references to a publishing house for kids.  As for the real me, I'm listed in my school directory and in some report of a committee I served on there.  Pretty disappointing to spys and sleuths looking for info. Happily.

I Googled GSOgymrat and what comes up is my bodybuilding stuff. My partner was mortified to find out that when you Google my real name an interview I did about lipoatrophy with my entire AIDS experience comes up. This is sure to bite me in the ass eventually. At last year's office Christmas party someone suggested we Google people's names for fun. Fortunately the group thought that idea was boring and we did the electric slide instead.

How I long for a world in which we didn't have to be worried about someone Googling our hiv status.  :-\

Ann Smith are my middle and maiden names. Nice and generic and I can count the times on one hand that I've used my full name on teh interwebbies. There's another Ann Smith out there who is involved in hiv/aids (found her via Google, of course!) and I can't help but wonder if she doesn't have a slightly different full name too.

When I google PeteNYNJ 3 things come up and they are all from here but rather tame postings about cooking and such.

Also, I could give a shit.  The only reason you would google that name is because you see it on here (or dirtier websites that have the same info about me as on here but some nude pics and such).

My real last name is associated with a famous sports person so you have to go about 45 pages back to find me and it is about something I did in High School (some stop smoking campaign or some shit)

google finds many englishgirl's that are NOT me, including:

My name is Shirley, I'm 70 years old, married with five children, seven grandchildren and six great-children. I am a good fifty pounds over weight and I need to crack down and start losing them. My health warrents this. I love animals, reading, working in the yard, jigsaw puzzles, good music and good friends..

and one who posts on a herpes support site. NOOOOOO i dont want anyone thinking ive got THAT!!! oh the shame!

We know you're a 70 year old married with five children, seven grandchildren and six great-children, that you're 50+ lbs overweight and you need to work on this because working in the yard and playing jigsaw puzzles are already taking a toll on your herpes, englishgirl.

Whew, thank goodness I have no shame and most people have no clue of some of my prior IDs or you'd be Googling an eyeful!

(Except for those of us who don't know how to turn off the parental controls)  :D

Oh, do tell.  Or better yet show! ;D

The second thing that comes up on googling my handle is someone on the Montreal Escort Review Board ;D  Fortunately I live at the opposite end of the country and have no desire to purchase female companionship.

I quite unwittingly chose possibly the most generic handle you could.  Even typing it in with keywords such as HIV or AIDS didn't bring up a post in the first 50.  Then again, I'm new(ish).
Dates are blood draw dates:
3/12/15: CD4 941, 36.4%, VL UD
9/4/14: CD4 948, 37.9%, VL 150
5/23/14: CD4 895 --.-% VL UD - Truvada/Isentress
09/21/09: CD4 898 27.0% VL 120 - back on track, same meds.High level enzymes, but less so
06/15/09: CD4 478 21.8% VL 1150 - high liver enzymes... looks like I may not be resistant
05/22/09: Fixed insurance, resumed medicine
04/17/09: Ran out of medicine, could not resolve insurance problems
04/01/09: CD4 773 28% VL 120 - high liver enzymes
12/01/08: CD4 514 23% VL 630
10/17/08 started Reyataz, Norvir and Truvada. -- possibly minor neuropathy, but otherwise okay.
9/10/08: CD4 345 17%, VL > 78K
8/18/08: CD4 312 18%, VL > 60K (considering meds)
12/19/07: CD4 550 28% VL > 100K (no meds yet)
Diagnosed 10/23/07

I'm 23 years old and live in Reno.  And I'm an airport in Alaska.

Update:  Ooooo, I just found this!  Hilarious!

Oh boy, I swear, I just laughed so hard I almost peed myself!

I googled my screen name... and it took me to a dogging site!!!

Guess that'll do my somewhat tarnished reputation the world of good  ;D

Fortunately I seem to be the only Matty the Damned on Teh Intahwebz. When I google my name all my AIDSmeds and Spin Cycle sins pop up to haunt me.

I look forward to the day when the Right faction of my party tables "Sleazy Breeder Strumpets Save Aussie AIDS Victims" or "The Way to a Boy's Heart is Through his Broken Ribs" at a meeting of my Federal Electorate Council.

well if you google up mine and take the first link, and then click "extra large tool" in the left hand menu, you won't see what you'd think you might see. ;D

It's a site with knifes and tools.  :(
