Brothers & Sisters

Despite the 3 month writers strike, which delayed airing of first-run episodes of our favorite programs, this is one show that has kept my interest.  The ensemble cast - led by Sally Field - is great and the storylines just keep getting better.  Without giving anything away, tonights eppy had a few good plot twists and you gotta love the ending.  The writers have laid the groundwork for what I expect to be an exciting season-ender next week.

Well I'm busy watching the 2 hour finale of Dexter.  If I watch Brothers and Sisters next week, without seeing this week's episode, will I still get the drift?

You could miss a few eppys and still get the drift - but if youre a fan of the show, youll miss some good moments.
So, how was the Dexter finale?

Since your the OP and I didn't want to hijack your thread on Brother and sisters, which we do watch when we can and enjoy. Sally Fields has become one of our staples: if she's in it, we're probably going to like it.(also feel the same about Harrison ford, and Sean Connery.... but...

we watched both episodes of Dexter. I couldn't help but feel torn inside as he is:
*He carries a deepr, dark secret he is trying to control/so am I/HIV
*He found someone he could relate to/so have I/AOC*support groups/forums
*His 'ticker tape' fantasy of being accepted by society/I want to be accepted by society
*He uses a 'code' to control his 'disease'/I use a drug*Truvada/Virumane

Me too.  I love the story line.  I wonder if Justin and Rebecca are going to hook up in the end.  That would be a great match.  I love the cast.  Anyway, cool thread.  One of my must watch of the week.  D

Finally a show that resembles what my families' gatherings are like.  We always get in fights, nothing ever goes as planned and my mom is Nora Walker made over.  I can't tell you how many times my mom has said and done some of the same things Nora does on the show.  I never could relate to the Walton's or the Brady's or the Huxtable's, but a family whose dinners end in disaster, a philandering father and a meddling mother, now that is something I can relate too!

I have to admit, when the show first premiered I thought it had too many characters with too many story lines and Nora (Sally Field) seemed to only talk to Kitty (Calista Flockhart)......but now....to me, it seems the show has found it's groove and has only gotten better. It's become a very good show.

Really enjoy the show and hardly ever notice an accent on Rachel Griffiths or Kevin (can't think of the actors name).  Same thing with the guy on Eli Stone ... would have never know he was English either.

Kevin somehow seems to date men way out of his league.   :D  I'm such a bitch ... or maybe I'm just jealous.

Did anyone see Grey's Anatomy last night the two hot GIs making out, that was hot, I was so sad that the one died..  Anyway, it is amazing how often these days we see two men kissing on TV.  We have come a long way.  Andrew, I too had no idea that those actors were English, I guess they had been paying attention to Madonna.. I am only kidding.  But she has an English Accent.  Anyway, I just thought it was totally cool to see the two military dudes making out.  D

It was a great scene.   Brought a tear or two to my eyes (but we all know that doesn't take much).

I felt guilty afterwards, because I thought the DAD was kinda hot... :D

The New York Times has a great review of Brothers & Sisters second season today:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/09/arts/television/09brot.html

I think they nailed it.  I find it unbearably sappy most of the time, but can't stop watching -- it's too gay to miss.

I'm a recent convert to Brothers & Sisters.  It comes on at 11PM over here, which is a tad bit late for me.  But I generally try to catch it every week.  We are usually a season behind the US.

I like Dexter, but it wasn't released to Itunes until last week (the entire season at once) and it doesn't start showing over here until later this month, I think.  I hate having to wait to see my favorite US shows!

Well I watched Brothers/Sisters last night and I gotta say I'd be pissed if my new husband leaves me a note on the table and walks out the door on the night of our honeymoon.  And I noticed  the next morning he was still at his Mother's house.  I'd say this marriage is on the rocks already.

Now about Dexter.  Rondrond, are we watching the same show?  Geez, I watched that episode and missed all  that.  The only thing I can read between the lines is what I imagine Dexter looks like naked.  I have to admit, ever since my diagnosis, the analytical part of the brain has taken a pill; it's just no damn good.  So keep those critiques coming.  I need someone like you to tell me what I'm watching.

I liked the gay "wedding"; love how open and loving Kevin's family is with him...but one detail I found TOO ridiculous to believe, was them not having any rings.   What two queens would plan any kind of wedding/committment ceremony and NOT have rings?  Sheesh.....

I think Rob Lowe arches his eyebrows.  Damn he sure is aging well.... :-*

Brothers & Sisters was a total accidental discovery for me -- found while aimlessly bouncing through the hundreds of channels on my cable box. I was instantly hooked. The last time I found something that I liked so much were the days of West Wing and the various iterations of Star Trek. What else is good that I'm missing?
